Hi there, I am a newbie from Singapore. I admit that I am probrably the last person in the world who does not own a ps2. Anyway, I have been to many shops and I have been told many tales abt modchips.
Would anyone be so kind as to advise me which one is better? Or which one lasts longer?
I have been told that the Apple chip lasts longer. I don't know much about the Messiah 2 chip, but I've been looking at the Magic 3 myself. It seems pretty nice with the option to turn it off on the latest release, which I think is 3.6. I don't know if that would increase life of the chip or not.
I actually took to task writing to one of hte chaps in the local gaming industry and this is what I wrote:

I am sorry to bother you but I was just wondering if i could trouble you with some queries. I am thinking of buying a ps2 but there are so many types of mod chips in the mkt that i am "torn" as to wondering which one is the best to use. I have heard of:
1) messiah, messiah pro, messiah 2
2) messiah clone
3) apple mod
just wondering which one is the best and i know seow choon is modding their ps2 with apple modchips, was told by some people that it is an earlier version that messiah and may not be good. any recommendations?
AND thisis what he replied:
Go for genuine Messiah 2 Pro V1.30 if you want to play games only.
If got extra cash and want to play divx or multi-region DVD movies, get dms3 V2.0
DO NOT GET ANY OTHER CHIPS OTHER THAN THE 2 ABOVE CHIP!!!

It's hard to say. Opinions vary, and of course if it's a retailer they will be biased toward the chip that they sell/install. It's hard to tell which one might be the best. It would be nice if there was an unbiased review of all the chips available. But then again, they are being updated and released so fast anymore that I doubt any reviews would be up to date.
