Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Will SONY ever come out with a better Class D ampI may be incorrect, but didn't Sony release a 9100ES - but only in the Japanese market? Sitting here listening to my 9000ES as I type this. sigh - has SONY lost it's edge? I hope not.
Home Theater GalleryWallew's Home Theater Setup OK folks, here's our new home in Keller, Texas I start out on the 'guest side' of the house in the bathroom, show you the guest room, my study, our living room with great acoustics because of the raised ceiling - on into the kitchen eating area, I show you the kitchen - LOOK AT MY NEW COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATOR -  a glimpse into our laundry room where you see TOP LOADING washer AND DRYER and my commercial freezer, then off into our master bedroom and I end up with our master bathroom WE TRULY GOT LUCKY ----------------- I'm a Renaissance man, gunsmi ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...What to do? (Speaker query)Actually the last time I checked, you could still purchase the three set pieces for the feet... the spike, the nurled large round adjustment nut and the steel puck with the center turned so the spike will fit.  The only problem is... they cost an arm and a leg.  At least the steel pucks cost $25 each. The rest are not too bad.  But  dang man $100 per speaker to get the correct pieces FROM Sony? Ouch.  It's why two of mine are still missing the pucks. Home Theater GalleryWallew's Home Theater SetupWell, my MIL's health slipped.  My wife WAS going to retire.  Went and talked to her company to  tell her boss that.  They asked if she was sure.  She asked why?  Talks ensued. HERE WE ARE NOW.  She got a nice raise, a promotion and tons more responsibility.  She is  still traveling 60% +. I'll get pix posted up in the next week.   It's funny. You really never know how much 'stuff' you have until you move it all from one state to another.  We used to move every three years, so our ..
Home Theater GalleryWallew's Home Theater SetupWell, I thought I would post an update. We moved. From Denver to Keller, Texas.  Think Dallas/Ft Worth area. And we now have different set ups.  The equipment has not changed much (New TV in bedroom), but the HOUSE changed. Still the same size (2600 sq ft) and still a 3/2, but in Denver we lived in the top half 1300 sq ft and used the basement as storage. NOW we use the whole house.  The rooms are twice as large because we no longer have a basement. I was going to add a second HT in our basement in Denver.  I was actually close to starting up on t ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony DA9100ESI absolutely HATE YOU. Not really. Big congrats on that WONDERFUL piece of Sony equipment. You must keep us informed. Those of us who (like you) are in the 9000ES club will want to know how you are progressing. And I'd love to know your overall impressions once the system has been 'tweaked' by you for a few weeks. jim
Great Sony DealsSelling my Sony SS Home theater speaker setI'd be interested. BUT as you are aware, the weight of these speakers is high and I live in Denver, Colorado. Please contact me at whiterivr at msn dot com and let's discuss possibilities. jim
Sony and Industry Re...Sony releases the flexible video screenLook what Sony's done with an OLED display. This 4.1-inch screen is so thin and flexible, it can wrap around a pencil-sized cylinder. Its 432 x 240 resolution still shines bright, albeit not quite perfectly, with some funky horizontal and vertical lines. Even so, it's so much better than any others that came before , it represents a breakthrough. We've seen rollable displays before, but never with such apparent contrast and color. And, unlike any previous attempts, this one can keep showing video even as it's being rolled up. Sony says the screen has a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 ..
CLIE HandheldSony PRs-900 Ebook ReaderV1, Bought my wife the smaller Sony Reader like yours when it first came out about three years ago.  It's been a great traveling companion for my wife. Reads books while listening to MP3 files on the airplane. Buy the 'noise canceling and powered' set of ear buds by Sony and you will be delighted at the results.  ESPECIALLY traveling for any length of time.  They cost $100 but the wife said they are worth every penny. I like the fact that it can be recharged via a USB port OR via the wall plug adapter. Because we have had hers for so long and Sony just recent ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Possible negative on my STRDA9000ESJoe, The funny part is that we sent the Sanyo back.  The cost of bulbs was insane. So, I stick with our tried and true Toshiba.  Which we love. And we don't watch a ton of DVD's anyway.  Most of our TV time is via Directv. And I have a cut to length custom made component cable and a cut to length S-Video cable and a cut to length RGB computer monitor cable already in the ceiling.  PLUS an extra pull rope left in place, in case I wanted to string HDMI - though I'm waiting to see if that's necessary. Currently the way I've got my cables run, I'm in ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Possible negative on my STRDA9000ESEver since we've gone with the newer HD receievers, I run either component or S-Video connections through my DA9000ES. Then we decided to try a different projector for TV purposes (Sanyo PLV model).  ANYWAY, it caused me to swap cables around.  Then I swapped the place of my Directv receiver with my Sony DVD player so the Directv remote worked better. In this process, I found that my receiver doesn't 'like' some HD signals sent through it. It causes the signals to have lines temporarily at the bottom of the screen.  This happened especially during sports even ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Well, I hate to admit it, but...Joe, No subs in the bedroom. That's on the 'still to do list'.  I need two in the front room (I have one with the Radio Shack name on it, but you know), two for my downstairs HT if I EVER get to build it (still have not decided on the projector yet) and then one in the master bedroom. But again, I have other priorities, mainly set by 'the boss'.  If you know what I mean.  I had scrimped my pennies for over two years to finish this setup. But the master bedroom IS finally where I want it to be.  Yeah, yeah, it still needs the sub.  One da ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Well, I hate to admit it, but...As promised.  Pix of the hopefully final setup in our bedroom.  OK, we might have to eventually replace the Sony rear projection TV with something a shade newer down the road, but for the audio setup, I'm hoping this is it. We really like the sounds coming from our bedroom.  Pardon the mess, I just shooed the dogs off their (er, I mean off our) bed.  Then took the pix without cleaning anything in our bedroom. jim ----------------- I'm a Renaissance man, gunsmith, chef, gardener, medic, computer whiz, philosopher, mechanic, bartender, ja ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Well, I hate to admit it, but... On 2009-08-02 13:08, SergeantYnot wrote: What's your impression of the CNK10 thus far? Well, I'm pretty impressed.  After several adjustments, it works almost as well as the SSK90ED it replaced. I've only had about six or eight hours of listening time so far.  Both radio and TV. No problems so far.  And it does sound very good in this setup. jim [addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...SSK90 speaker componentsOK, while I think it's criminal to disassemble the SSK90ED speakers and sell the parts because you think you can make more money, here is the opportunity for those of you who have SSK90ED speakers to pick up replacement parts.  The person who is selling these is selling them by the pair, which means TWO SSK90ED speakers were disassembled. Crossovers - $65 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170367251915&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123 Tweeters - $99 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180392019426&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123 ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Well, I hate to admit it, but...I finally got all my speakers.  I have installed them into my bedroom system.  That is my STR-DA5000ES with two SSK30ED's in the front and the SSCN10ED as the center speaker plus a second pair of SSK30ED's for the rear speakers. I'll try and take some pix next weeks so you can get an idea of how it all turned out.  After waiting patiently for almost two years, our master bedroom system has finally started to come together. jim [addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Well, I hate to admit it, but...SYN, Again, I hate to admit it, but I've been using my spare SSK90ED as my center speaker for quite some time. But I've had to lower the input to it so it didn't overpower the other two speakers. Now I can put them all at the same input to each speaker and then tweek those setting. I will let you know once all three speakers arrive, probably sometime next week. jim [addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Well, I hate to admit it, but...SergeantYnot, Yes they do.  They are going to be added to my STRDA5000ES back in the bedroom with the other pair I have. And I just won the center speaker, SS-CNK10ED to go with it.  So now I have a 'spare' SS-K90ED for 'just in case' something breaks on one of my speakers in the great room HT. Here's the auction for the SS-CNK10ED speaker on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=300330178477 So that brings the speaker count to: SS-K30ED  -  4 SS-CNK10ED - 1 SS-K90ED - 21 I THINK ..

Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STRDA900ES minor issues - keeps shutting off interWell, it's been a little over a month.   I've had two shutdowns that I am aware of.  I should note that I was out of pocket for four days picking up a military vehicle and driving it back to Denver from Pennsylvania.  So during those four days, I've got no idea.  The wife never mentioned it, but ... Anyway, in both instances, I was listening to audio and not having any video signal projected as the projector was turned off. I'm not saying that video was not being output, because it was, but I just wasn't projecting it. My 9000ES just shuts down.  ..
