Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Mass Purchase Congrates on your find looks like a very nice collection you picked up.Hope you some pics after you get it all set up.I might be interested in one of your n80es if you decide to sell some of the stuff off maybe you could send me a list of items your parting with and the prices thanks.Enjoy
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...ebay sale-8 es components-pick up only-Fort Worth ya but I'm 240 kms east of Winnipeg !Would sure love to get my hands on this lot.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...ebay sale-8 es components-pick up only-Fort Worth yes there are two ways one is "USPS" and the other is "UPS" cant remember which is the more expensive but I think its the UPS that is quite abit more.I got two receivers for around $150 shipping each and when I ordered the next one that was shipped different I was charged around $250 so one has to be carefull.Just wish the shipping was cheaper as its hard to find sony es stuff here in Canada now.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...ebay sale-8 es components-pick up only-Fort Worth If there was a customs duty it would be very minimal Maxxwire.Dont remeber excately but I've purchased a few sony peices from the USA myself a while back. The killer thing is the shipping and the price quote you see on ebay is deceiving because it may show a price of say $100 to ship usps to your address and when it arrives here you might end up paying an additional hidden shipping cost of say $85 .So you end up paying almost double in the end.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...ebay sale-8 es components-pick up only-Fort Worth Now thats a deal wish I was in texas but a little to far of drive from Canada.lol  Great find David
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...My TA-E80ES Arrived!Looks mint very nice loooking unit.Just curious was this the one advertised on Canuck audio for $500 .The reason I ask was I was justlooking at it and trying to decide if I should go for it or not.lol Congrates ,what amp are you going to pair it to?
Home Theater GalleryA Work In ProgressI will post some pics soon Ive mounted new 60'' plasma and now I m just hooking up all the cables.Man cable management can be a bit of a pain.I am eventuallly going to have to repaint the room because of the brightness and reflection of my white room. That will have to wait until     spring as its -   37degrees below zero here now.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Soft dome tweeters or ribbonmy brother in law has a set of Magnepans he recently picked up and they are also 6feet high. They sound great and have alot of detail but the downside is his wife hates them as they take up so much room lol and you definetly need a good sub to go with them. Those type of speakers you either lovem or hatem lol .Let us know how yours sound?
Home Theater GalleryA Work In Progressvery nice setup looks great! I was thinking of running two subs as well but alot of people have told me this is not a good idea. Not to sure why but how do you find it with multi subs are they all set to the same level? I like the ceiling paint dark looks great and I bet it cuts down alot of glare.Im also in the process of changing my HT setup .your system sure ls impresive thanks for sharing.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...7es component and rca conversion hookup new PlasmaThanks for your advice and your offer mhedges ,my new tv will not be here until around Jan 15 . I will be sure to update and let you know if the converter works out for me.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...7es component and rca conversion hookup new PlasmaThanks for your response jttar yes indeed it does share the same input ,cant beleive how much they cheap out on the amount of inputs on some of these new tvs.Today I picked up a component to HDMI converter which I plan to use going from the component monitor out on the 7es to HDMI in on the tv.Then I will run a cable  from composite monitor out on the 7es to the one composite/component shared input on the tv.This hopefully should work and solve my problem letting me connect my composite wii and VHS to the 7es.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...7es component and rca conversion hookup new PlasmaThink what I need is a AV distribution amp can anyone recommend one? Its my tv that lacks the inputs.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...7es component and rca conversion hookup new PlasmaI dont beleive the 7es does any kind of video conversion wondering if this is correct. Thanks
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...7es component and rca conversion hookup new PlasmaJust purchased a new samsung pn60e550 for my home theatre.I want to hook it up to my str da 7es .In my system I have components hooked up using both rca and component but my old tv has both rca and component inputs so I used both the rca monitor out and component monitor out.The new tv has only one analog input any suggestions? thanks
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA7ES   Just bought a new tv a samsung pn60e550 and it may prove to be a challange to use in my system with my str da7es.They dont give you much for analog connections on these new tvs with HDMI being so popular. If I remember correctly my 7es will not convert rca with component limiting my number of devices I can connect.Might even have to pull my ps2 and vcr out of my system. This could be interesting just wish I had more options but the 7es has to stay for now.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA7ESThe str da 5800 is a 9.2 ch home cinema receiver with next-generation 4K resolution, network connectivity. So if you have a 4k TV and an extra set of front speakers mounted higher up you might need the upgrade.Think this is the basic main things you would be missing having your 7es.Merry xmas
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA7ESYou have a gem there as far as I'm concerned. These are great receivers and getting harder and harder to find.My brother in law has the newer str da 5400es and it has a better OSD and HDMI but as far as sound quality we both agree that the str da 7es has a cleaner sound to it.I have not heard the newest 5700 or 5800 models so I cant compare it to those.I'm scared to upgrade because I dont want to sacrifice sound qualiy for a easier connection.I like skytrooper use the 7.1 inputs with my sony BDP550 and would agree 100% with the firmware comment if it aint broke dont fix it.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA7EScongtates on your DA7es I own both the DA7es and the DA5es along with the DA4es.To pick between the DA7 and the DA5 well that would be a tough one.Depends on what your listening to I prefer the DA5 for music and use my DA7es primarliy for movies. The main reason is that with the DA5es you can listen to music in any format with any sound field where as the DA7es you can't.Also to use a 7.1 setup you need to add an amp to the DA5es where as the DA7es you dont.
Off-topicwhats with sony not making tvs? Thanks so much Jttar Im a little nervous about Samsung ,have heard some stories and read some reveiws about people having issues with them.Looking at a Sharp as well and it was the sony bravia ex700 that I had looked at I just thought Sony would have had 3 or 4 60'' models with different options.About 11 years ago when I bought my last tv I was torn between the Sony and a Panasonic so I went with the latter because it came with an extra years warrenty.well about a month after the 2 year warrenty was up it died. The repair man charged me $300 to fix and said it will never die again, when I asked ..
Getting Started/Buil...sony 60'' tvwanting to add a sony 60'' tv to my home theater as my 53''projection is slowly dying.I was shocked to discover their is only an older sonyex700 or a real expensive 65''tv and sony isnt making very many tvs.what gives loved the picture on my sony 46''tv in my bedroom. Are things that bad for sony these days makes you wonder if they are slowly going under?
