MD/CD/SACDOdd behaivor from the XA-5400 On 2009-11-12 21:05, redwing-nine wrote: After additional verification, confirmed that the behavior described above is consistent.   For analog out, make sure no HDMI cable is connected, and digital out is off. For HDMI. make sure the 6400 does not see the TV on HDMI out. As long as one adheres to this, the XA5400 works great. Redwing, are you sure the HDMI cable has to be disconnected even if Digital Out is set to Off? I'm asking because I'm considering purchasing the XA5400, and I'd like to use the analog outs for stereo CDs and SACDs but HDMI for multichannel SACDs ..
MD/CD/SACDSony CD Changer - Power Toggle via Remote ControlHello! I've just added a lovely Sony SCD-C2000ES SACD changer to my system. It's working beautifully, except for one thing: it doesn't appear to have a standby mode from which it can be turned on by remote control. (There is no "Power" button on the remote.) Is there any way for me to set it up so that I can turn it on or off via remote control (I use a Harmony One universal remote)? Thanks! MD/CD/SACDSACD Changer: SCD-C555ES vs. SCD-C2000ESAny thoughts as to which is better? (I can get a lightly used 555ES or a new 2000ES.) Thanks! Matty
MD/CD/SACDMy SCD-XA9000ES is for saleWhat do you connect your XA5400ES to, out of curiosity?
MD/CD/SACDSCD-XA5400ESI have no doubt that it sounds terrific. I do a lot of comparative listening, though, and the painfully slow fast forward makes that a major pain in the ***!
MD/CD/SACDSCD-XA5400ESHere's a random question. I used to have an old 5-disc Sony ES CDchanger from the late 80s. One of the things I liked about it was thatwhen I pressed the scan forward (fast forward) button, the player wouldzoom ahead at a fairly rapid clip. When I first paused the music andthen hit scan forward, it would go even faster (through a 10-minutetrack in less than 10 seconds). This made fast-forwarding to aparticular part of, say, the 35-minute first movement of Mahler's 3rdsymphony fairly painless. My current player--a Sony DVP-NS9100ES--takes forever and a day to fastforward, perhaps because it do ..
MD/CD/SACDSCD-XA5400ESDoes anyone know whether either the US or the UK version of the SCD-XA5400ES is dual voltage? (That is, will it work with both US and European voltage standards?) Thanks! Matty

I have much lower standards for video and home theater audio. The list of Sony devices being released this year includes what looks like a new SACD player, the SCD-XA5400ES. I wonder what features that will have. Perhaps I should wait for that. Matty
