| DVD | DAV-S550 Component to SCART RGB?! | The connections isn't the problem. Not quiet apples and oranges, more like red delicious apples and green cooking apples. RGB Red Green and Blue Component video Y, luminance and two colour difference signals, Cr & Cb. YCrCb is apparently a simple mathematical translation of RGB that is better for storage (eg on DVD's). So if there is no component to RGB convertor/decoder in your TV, and none in your amp, the only option is to buy decoder (or use s-vid or composite). Which I think is a complete waste of cash compared to buying a better/more expensive model with these .. |
| Playstation 2 player... | Region Free on PS2 at Europe | all sorts of goodies at http://lik-sang.com or buy dvd region-x from a store that sells games. (£10 at argos) You have to boot from the disk then swap dvd movie. Easy, but a bit of a pain. Also cures green screen problem using RGB scart connection. |
| DVD | DVP-NC665p problem | Hi Aragorn, maybe the hobbits broke it : ) |
| DVD | My new tv doesn't like dvd sound... | My memory is vague on this but... have you connected the stereo L and R analogue outputs from your dvd to your tv? If so you're expecting the dvd player to downmix the 5.1 dts to 2 channel stereo for your tv and getting nothing. The player probably doesn't do this. Either listen to the 5.1 dts on your av amp or try dolby 5.1 for stereo from the tv. I remember a warning on my old dvd player saying that it will not output stereo while it it decoding dts 5.1. In fact it said the output could damage your amp and speakers (Nasty eh). |
| DVD | DAVS-880 problems | sound a bit like firmware problems I read about in old threads... Dunno maybe worth your while to have a look? |
| DVD | DAV S880 black & white VCD problems | I grabbed this info from the keen electronics site a while ago. If this fits, your tv doesn't support ntsc properly. (I've edited it down though) "modern TVs are capable of locking to either 50 or 60 Hz signals. The NTSC signal is sent to the TV still as a 60Hz signal but with the colour (or should that be color for NTSC) frequency changed from the 3.58Mhz of NTSC to 4.43MHz of PAL,..." "Once you’ve got playback sorted then usually one of the following will happen:- ... 2) You see a nice stable picture but only in black and white" - sounds like you .. |
| DVD | sony dav-s550 trouble... | sounds dumb I know, but try new batteries in the remote... I guess the batteries are new, but weak batteries means weak signals. The remote for my old NAD T750 works very shabbily without pretty new / good batteries. Actually, may want to check that little orange button on the side of the remote is set to dvd not tv? |
| Playstation 2 player... | Connecting PS2 to Computer Monitor | 15 PIN HD MALE (SVGA) TO 3 RGsB or Component 2.0 SBB402 £24.99 getting close to what you want... look further at http://www.syncblaster.com/RGB_lead_list.htm and http://www.keene.co.uk/ |
| Playstation 2 player... | HELP - PS2 RGB on Sony Wega - turns black into gre | You could try... - Buying dvd region x from argos for £10. It multizones the ps2 and gets rid of the green screen while using rgb enabled scart. You have to stuff around with a boot disc though. - Pull your ps2 apart and solder two resistors together. You might get away with a conductive pen? Apparently, easy if you’ve disassembled your PS2 for other reasons. Ah someone has just posted this. - Go into the PS2’s setup and change output from RGB to Y,Cr,Cb. Your TV might support it. RGB is red blue green, Y,Cr,Cb is luminance (black and white), hue and saturation (colour differe .. |
| DVD | rbg to yuv output - is it possible to hack firmwar | I'm stuck with a tv that only take composite and rgb inputs. No s-video and no component. My PS2 can output either rbg or YUV(YCrCb). Also i'm pretty sure my old sony dvd back in NZ (i'm in london) could do both to the component plugs too. When I bought the dav550 i assumed that it could ouput both rbg and yuv from the component plugs. Dead wrong. I've looked at convertors, the cheapest I've found costs £80+. i would have rather dropped that into the price of buying a better dvd (or new tv) with rgb... too late. wiring diagram for home made convertor ht .. |
| DVD | DAV550s DVD player | found this in a old thread for a DAV-S880, but I think it's the same for the series... "Check with no CD/DVD inserted by pressing: STOP + DISPLAY + TURNING VOLUME KNOB TO THE RIGHT. Then you will be in the engineering menu." |
| DVD | DAVS550 NTSC->PAL Output | I just bought one of these too. I remember the manual saying exactly how to do it. Something as easy as holding down a button and switching the unit on. Cheers |
