Television Troublesh...XBR400/450 permanent DBoard fix?Thank you for the info but from what I gather this is a common problem with the early HD XBR models. From what you stated, the board can go anytime therefore it's an inferior product? I've own a original 27" Wega since 1999 without 1 problem. It's hard to think that a TV more than twice as much is more likely to fail. Ed
Television Troublesh...XBR400/450 permanent DBoard fix?Is there a solution to this problem or can we assume we simply live with this fault and correct it everytime it occurs?
Television Troublesh...KV-32xbr400, audio, no video, fixed for $6.66Can I assume that you WILL have to continuously fix this part for as long as you own the TV? There is no one single permanent fix for this problem? Ed
Television Troublesh...XBR 400 Dead! Help!I am looking to buy a used 5 year old 36XBR400 set and decided to read up on the TV and of course came across all these posts. My question is, has anyone been provided a permanent fix from Sony? Or should all XBR400/450 owners expect this problem to occur more than once as long as they own the set? Ed
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Heat inquiry with TA-E9000ESI am aware of the p/s problem that was common with first and even some second generation units. I purchased this model last year from the Sony Store in Downtown Toronto as it's one of the last units produced which includes not only p/s fixes but larger capacitors that were failing on the older one. However, I've always got that p/s problem in the back of my head and feel that you are right in that I shuld run it as cool as possible no matter what. Well, time to buy a new TV stand and move my DVD player back. Thanks for all the help. Ed
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Heat inquiry with TA-E9000ESIf you can run your DB930 for 5 years with only 5/8" clearance, I should be ok. I will find out the actual temp but I hear if it's below 55C, I am ok.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Heat inquiry with TA-E9000ESI wish I could give an exact temperature reading but unfortunatley that is not an option. In general, the top of the unit is twice as hot as before. The temperature is now the same as my Yamaha RX-V2300 receiver. I also notice that most of the local Sony stores place their new ES receivers in fairly tight spots. For example, I saw a DA-4ES with less than 1cm clearance and it was turned on. The unit was not playing anything but it was on. I feel I am ok with the 1.25" but would like a second opinion. Also note, I can place my hand on the top without any discomfort.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Heat inquiry with TA-E9000ESI recently moves some components on my rack and is now left with the TA-E9000ES Digital PreAmp having only 1.25" or 3cm of clearance (It used to have approx 7" prior to this). Now the unit is a tad on the hot side but still ok to touch. Any other ES owners out there that can tell me what degree of heat these things can get up to without any problems and also if there is a fail safe mechanism in that it does overheat? Thanks Ed
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony STR DA 5000ES- Hearing is Believing! One word... Flagship! Doesn't necessarily mean much other than this is the best receiver Sony is currently offering and therefore anyone who wants it will have to pay. Personally, if I was in the market for a $4500US receiver, I would look at the Denon 5803 but that's me.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony Europe announces new gear w/ firewireIf only I had cash to burn or a sucker to trick, I would easily trade my setup for a TAN/E-1. I've never heard them nor do I feel that the price refects its performance. However, those 16kg heatsinks kick A$$!
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Anyone tried SACD?I support the artists and will buy CD's based on it's value. However, I am not about to sell out $15, less than $1 goes to the artist, another $3-4 goes into marketing and production and the rest is profit to the record label. This is a general rule based on new artists just starting off. Bands like U2, Aerosmith etc. of course call their own shots in the industry. These labels are greedy just like the people who download MP3's. I realise business is business and these suits are in this world to make money. However, people like to save money and will do so accordingly. I ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony Europe announces new gear w/ firewireMaxx- My comment implied that companies such as Bryston, Mark Levingston, Musical Fidelity etc. sell gear based on performance/track record. Some people may find their looks appealing but I find them very plain and fairly boring. This new Sony AMP also falls in that category however, Sony doesn't carry the title those other manufactures do. This may cost Sony sales as the average consumer will pass on it based on apperance. Also the rehab needed after carrying this thing from your car to the living room. Lets face it, the MSRP for this amp is quite high and there are plenty of ot ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony Europe announces new gear w/ firewireYeah my comment was typed faster than I could say it. As for the apperance, it's an acquired taste but will sit nicely beside a Denon 5803 and Xbox . I do realize it houses new technology but this is not a Bryston or Mark Levinston amp and should have as much appearance as it does bite. Now, it has to sound much better than I expected just to get my attention. Especially at that price.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony Europe announces new gear w/ firewireThis thing is ugl.... I mean a TANK! Original Sony Release http://www.sony-europe.com/presscenter/PressShow.x?articleid=897 Pictures of the SACD player. http://www.highfidelityreview.com/news/news.asp?newsnumber=16650451 [ This message was edited by: mofoed on 2003-03-18 11:04 ] [ This message was edited by: mofoed on 2003-03-21 15:28 ]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Anyone tried SACD?Hey guys. I have to agree in that the music industry deserves what they are getting with all losses due to MP3's. I have a fair collection of CD's, roughly over 200 however most are greatest hits as I feel no need to spend $14-$18 CND on one hit wonders. Do I listen to MP3's? Of course, this way I can determine if the CD is worth buying. However I only listen to them on my laptop using a set of Sennheisers. CD's definetly sound better than MP3's however the gap can be closer given you use the the right equipment to make the MP3 (there still is a gap though). Isn't Sony planning on relea ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Advice on Monster ILSR or Kimber OPT1The ferrules on the OPT-1 are quite small compared to the ILSR. The ILSR are a perfect size at the connector end but then it flares towards the rubber grib. The Kimbers are largest at the connector which appear to be the same size as any toslink cable as they should be. The good thing is they do not flare. I've been really bored and have actually gone through and am in the process of selling off most of my Monster Cable. Nothing against monster but I think I'll move over to an entire Kimber setup. It looks nicer that way = )
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Advice on Monster ILSR or Kimber OPT1I just purchased two Monster ILSR 1M and didn't realise how big the connectors are. Long story short, I am unable to fit both connectors on my pre-amp side by side. Moving the cables are not an option as my pre-amp has pre-assigned connections. Here are my options: 1. Connect the output cable from the CD player to the MD instead of pre-amp to MD. I used a coax cable for CD to pre-amp. 2. Sell these cables and get the Kimber OPT1 as they have a smaller connector. The quality of the Monster ILSR are top notch. Heavy metal connectors, spring mounted optical tip all ..
Television Configura...Whites are too bright?!Both 24" models have the same tube and only differ by sound quality and audio output. Settings are going to vary from every TV. You said your picture is too dark? You have tried adjusting the "Picture" & "Brightness" option? If that doesn't work go into the service menu and find the exact same settings as I mentioned above. If that doesn't help email me and I will send you another setting that may fix your problem. mofo_ed@hotmail.com
