| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | Using external HDD for audio playback. | That's cool that the AVR can play FLAC off an external drive. I didn't know they did that. But I have to say, using the file directory structure to play music is very limiting. Its ok if all you want to do is listen to entire albums, but if you go to the trouble to obtain a large digital library then you should have a decent interface, otherwise you might as well just stick with playing cds. I was running off a wireless NAS drive and just navigating the directories and just couldn't live with it. No playlists, no searching, etc. I'm ccurrently using iTunes out of lazin .. |

I am pretty sure though it is the second consumer DAC, as I have the first a Sony DAS 702ES. I'm not really sure what the differences are between them, they look very similar. The indicators for rate etc use incandescent lamps, which burned out in my unit during the warranty period, and left me paranoid about leaving it on all the time. Slippery slope, haven't turned it on in a couple years after reconfiguring with a receiver and media PC. It does sound nice. I thought the 702ES was Japan only, but apparently som .. |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | Damaged my SS-K70EDs | I just looked the A905X up. It does not appear to have a pre-out. So that is the issue. |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | Damaged my SS-K70EDs | First I am trying to figure out how this happened. Did you connect to the Onkyo's tape out jacks? Those bypass the volume control. Are you sure the problem is in the speakers and not the amp? Have you checked the speakers to see if all drivers are working? |

I might just order a Harmony 650 and use it for some other devices also but I have made up my mind. I think I need to take back my previous statement, or at least add more detail. The AV2100 works well, but I also have the original preamp remotes to use to teach it. You do not need to teach volume, but you do need to teach it if you want to control source selection via the hard function buttons. You may be able to acco .. |

Just one question would you buy the Harmony or the Sony and for that matter which Harmony would be your pick. thanks john I am using a Sony RM-AV2100 for my system. It has the codes for the E80ES. They sell for dirt cheap on ebay. The nice thing about them is they have hard buttons for tuner, DAT, MD, etc. A lot of the newer remotes are less audio focused and have fewer hard buttons for source selection. |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | Markets Bullish on Classic Sony? | Boy that one is in sad shape. I would like to get hold of another unit for parts but the prices are too high to allow for that. |

The serial is photoshopped. On a side note, do you know where I can get a Control S cable? [ This message was edited by: sonyeslover on 2013-02-09 23:00 ] It is part number 1-558-233-11. I got mine from partstore.com, but they say it is NLA now. One of the other parts houses may have it. There are some on eBay now but they are kind of expensive. If you find one but they won't ship to Canada pm me - I could help you out. |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | My TA-E80ES Arrived! | Are you planning on modding/recapping, or will you leave everything stock this time? Is the serial number really blank, or did you photoshop it? [ This message was edited by: mhedges on 2013-02-09 22:47 ] |

| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | DAS-703ES DAC is in the house! | I hooked it up to the step-down transformer - it works! There are a few burnt out lamps but that's no big deal to fix. |

| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | DAS-703ES DAC is in the house! | I have just taken delivery of another one of these units thanks to a very kind gentleman who saw this thread. It is a 100V model, probably for the Japanese home market. This one has dual transformers and the stock potted film coupling caps. I will be looking fora step-down transformer so I can try it out. |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | DAS-703ES DAC is in the house! | Thanks. I should be getting it into my rack tonight. I had to do a minor repair - some lamps were burnt out. Parts are coming today. I have done a very quick test and it does work, at least through headphones. Someone put a couple of 0.2uf film caps across the fixed output RCAs. Not sure why - maybe to bring the highs down a little? Anyway I'm probably going to snip them. |

| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | I got my TA-E77ES and I'm PISSED! | Hopefully you can fix it. I read somewhere that this problem in an E80ES can be due to an unobtainium IC in the input switching system. Did you file an eBay claim at the time? |
