Thank you jehill to the naked eye everything looks clean etc, i have read that its a matrix that becomes damaged? if i new what the matrix looked like, and i have also read that no one has repaired one of these by simply replacing one or two lenses,or individual lcd panels, oh well onwards and upwrds!!
Well I found the thread and had the guts out of the light engine, polished and cleaned every lens in sight swapped the lenses nearest the lamp with some which came out my cannibalised tv and wham bam no change lol, great picture with a dvd just lots of annoying little blue spots, sometimes you cant even see them, what next!! cleaning the lenses and mirrors etc with alcohol will the lenses tolerate this!! or leave out each lense one by one, very very time consuming, however i am now super fast at dissmantling and re assembly. Went on the Tristate site they had no light eng ..
Hi claudio do you think you could possibly point me in the right direction of the threads on the blue blob/stars i would like to give it a go, and i was stunned yesterday when the only supplier in New Zealand refused to even give me a price on an optical block let alone supply me with one, it seems for those in New Zealand who have had the indignation of buying a Wega, and who have given,or sold at a song their sets if they want a repair must go soley through a Sony acredited agent at their own cost, can you believe the bare faced cheek of it, they refuse the person any chance ..
Just an update well i went straight into the optical block i disconected the three ribbonns for the lenses which was a terrible move on my part they are imposible to get back in,and the three push down connectors all snapped, if i had removed all the screws i could have slid the whole lot out through the front. Since then i have brought two more for $150 about 75 US, both were thick with dust and the fans pretty useless as they were solid with muck. I spent the whole day cleaning the inside, fans, everything, fitted the new type thermal fuse which is now plinth mounted under the block and hey pre ..
Hi Claudio,Sony United States will only post within the U.S Sony NZ have not got a thermal fuse with that part number, and cant find anything close!! the tv is in bits i have been cleaning the fans etc, before i stripped it it was just flashing green about 20 times then nothing no red lights, I thought it might be because there was no thrmal fuse inside previous owner had taken it out because it was sparking, and the lamp was blown. Would i be able to do diagnostic without the fuse, lamp I have a lamp just got to get my hands on a fuse spent hours searching will carry on lo ..
Hi I am in the process of trying to repair this tv, it had no thermal fuse and a badly blown Lamp and the unit was packed with dust, the fan above the lamp is so caked in dust it has set solid, I want to remove it, I have got so far but i would like some help getting further, has anyone got any pics or information that could help me get right into the guts of the block as well as getting out the fan for cleaning, any help would be much appreciated. I am also having real problems getting a thermal fuse for this model Sony say they dont recognize part number 1-910-023-93 despite me getting one ..
Well I hope it helps some at least, on my reciept it says L CHIRAL KIT KF-W2S1-OBKIT WE42L and they re aligned the lens which was out of adjustment as well. regards Phil.
I first found this site when i was looking for a solution to blinking red lights, and with the help of Jehill i was able to replace the Thermal Fuse for $31NZD. At the begining of December 08 I started to notice Blue patches, and bad fading of colour in the middle and lower parts of the screen, much reading of threads led me to believe it was the optical block problem. I read the thread about complaints being excepted until Dec 08 and contacted Sony New Zealand. They said contact a Sony service centre and all complaints/claims are looked at on an individual basis. The service guy picked up th ..
