| Getting Started/Buil... | You can have your own IMAX home theater | Man, if only I played a professional sport of some kind and had a cool million lying around. Fun read. Thanks Nitehawk. Joe |
| Off-topic | How TV and the Internet melted into one world | Thank you NiteHawk and Mr_Mod. I would love to severe ties with my cable provider but the majority of my TV viewing is live sports. I will have to check out livestream.com to see what it offers. I appreciate the link. Joe |
| Off-topic | How TV and the Internet melted into one world | Hello NiteHawk, Is there a way to view live sports without paying a subscription fee? Joe |
| Blu-Ray/HD DVD | ES Blu Ray Player | I think that the BDPS790 3D Blu-ray Player with Wi-Fi is a step up from the BDP-S5100. It offers all of the same features but also taunts 4K Upscaling that provides up to four times higher resolution than Full HD 1080p. Also uses a Duel Core Processor and has Skype on your TV with optional camera. A body liking of their ES line, not likely. Joe |

When going there all I see are old posts made almost 10 years ago. Not sure I'm following you sterling1. Are you saying you emailed a picture to the Home Theater section of this forum and it's not showing? Joe |
| Do It Yourself Home ... | RCA Plug Caps | Hello Rick! How cool that such an inexpensive upgrade made such a noticeable difference in so many areas. I have seen these EFI noise eliminator listed in some of the higher end catalogs but usually they are ridiculously priced. Thank you for sharing your audio find with us. Also, great to hear from you! | Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | AVD-C70ES Super Audio CD/DVD Receiver 10 Year Insp | John, First, thanks for the detailed update. Man, so sorry to hear that you are having so many issues. Nothing more frustrating then moving 2 steps backwards for every step forward. I sincerely hope that the next time you open up your AVD-C70ES is the last time you have to. Hopefully you will hear back from the seller although I doubt that they will admit that the the receiver was NOT in perfect working order. Good luck John, Joe |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | AVD-C70ES Super Audio CD/DVD Receiver 10 Year Insp | Congrats John. Smart move and at a good price. In the spirit of "Wish You Were Here"------ "Have a Cigar". Joe |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | AVD-C70ES Super Audio CD/DVD Receiver 10 Year Insp | Drat! That story didn't end the way I was hoping. When I started reading the last post I thought you would get the lens cover to lay flat and everyone would live happily ever after. Unfortunately this is too much like real life, not always a happy ending. I doubt you want to give up playing your SACD's so what is the plan. A "new" used AVD-C70ES ? |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | AVD-C70ES Super Audio CD/DVD Receiver 10 Year Insp | Really sorry to hear that John. I read your post last night and though "good for you" as I know how much you enjoy your AVD-C70ES.hopefully if it is something slightly out of place the repetition of playing the disc will re-seat it. I do know from experience that grain alcohol WILL do a number on plastic but I know that you were meticulous in using it. I will watch for the end result, with my fingers crossed. Joe |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | The "mad scientist" of Sony audio | It appears that Mr. Kanai has a lot of skill, thought and dedication too. I agree with RTSW, good read. Joe |
| Television Misc and ... | new lamp | You are welcome oneshotward. I hope you can re-seat the lamp and have it work. Joe |
| Television Misc and ... | new lamp | Hello oneshotward, The first thing that comes to mind is to recheck andmake sure that the lamp is properly seated. Try removing and replacing again. Next check to see if there is a lamp door not closed all the way or out of place. Any chance that you accidentally bumped a connector that is now not making contact? Just some things to try as you don't have to do a reset. Make sure that you unplug the power cord while you work on the lamp this will also clear the TV's "brain". Best of luck, Joe |
| Television Misc and ... | Sony XBR-84X900 Ultra HD TV Review | " With an 84-inch screen, an ideal viewing distance that would allow you to take in 4K’s added detail is 5-6 feet. But if you’ve spent time sitting 5-6 feet from an 84-inch screen, as I did during my evaluation of the 84X900, you’d probably consider it to be uncomfortably close. Most viewers sit 8-10 feet from their TVs. But a problem with this scenario is that, when viewed from an 8-10 -foot distance, the resolution boost provided by 4K on an 84-inch screen theoretically evaporates. " I see what you mean NiteHawk. Can't imagine the majority of people moving their seat .. |

| Off-topic | Who do you trust?......not journalists. | What suprises me about this poll is how for the most part it is pretty even between the age groups of 18-49 years and 50+ years. But come on, journalists only slightly ahead of a total stranger. LOL! Joe |

You will have a better chance of getting a solution to your service menu question if you re-post this question in the Television Troubleshooting section of the forum HERE , where the TV techs can offer an answer.
