| Television Misc and ... | NEW KD-34XBR970 THE CRT LIVES ON !!! | The main deciding factor for me not to purchase this set is that it does not have the superfine pitch tube like the 960 did. I have seen the superfine pitch and the regular tube and they don't compare. You cannot see any lines in the finepitch tube where as the reg tubes you can make out the lines and pixels easily. I think the Superfine Pitch is the same they used on their Computer CRTs for years. It is a excellent picture. If you can find a new 960 or 960N for a good price I suggest buying that one instead. thanks Joe |
| Television Troublesh... | TV Lifespan? | I have a 60inch XBR and the Image Block the Asembly that houses the three LCD chips is already out of sync and the Repair man stated that it has 7200hrs of operation on it. He went into the service menu and got the ghosting to look better but her said it will get worse over time there is a few more times for the service menu to help but. I would have to buy a new image block which costs $900bucks plus the $200 for labor but I wondering if this is a Defect in the design. I have a 60XBR800 its about 4yrs old. What should be the LifeSpan of a RearProj LCD TV. I thought an .. |

But this should be the TV you are talking about the Simulated wood is ontop and on the bottom middle and footing. The Previous years version had a Rosewood instead of the Ebonywood. |

It may be a Manual screw Adjustment inside the TV. If you know the model number of the TV. You should be able to find the remote button code to get into the service menu. But I would be hesitant to try and repair it myself. If you get a Tech to do it and he screws up then he has to make it right if you screw up well you out of luck. If you do a search on this forum for service menu and your model number and see what comes up. you may be able to get into the menu but s .. |
| Television Troublesh... | PC DVI to 34XBR960 HDMI = black screen, please hel | The TV is not capable of because the output of your computer is not HDCP copy protection compliant you will have to buy a box I think if they make them. That is the main reason why Sony says it won't work. probablly other reasons as well. but the LCD projection TV's couldn't be used as a PC monitor until the newer models came out. Thanks Joe |

It maybe just a Service menu adjustment. what it sounds like to me is that the part that controls the screen size is out of wack to put it simply you are seeing the image on the outside of the broadcast that is why you see the numbers. My Mitsubishi 27inch did this I had a tech strech the screen he had to take it apart, it lasted another 3 to 4 yrs then started to do it again I just bought a new set after that and gave that one away. | Television Troublesh... | Sony KF50-XBR800 problem | I have good new and bad news. bad news first it cannot be fixed within the service menu. good news is they can get it about 95% as good as new through the service menu but you will undoubtedly have a little bit of ghosting but not as bad as you do now. I have the 60XBR800 and just a few days ago went through the same thing with a Tech paid $155.00 and he said that would be the best he can get it stated that the LCD's are out of sync and if I wanted it perfect I needed to buy a new Image Block for $900.00 plus $200.00. Which I thought well its cheaper than a new TV but .. |

| Television Misc and ... | Sony 61" XBR television from way back | I remember that TV I owned one it had the one I had was Black wood trim ontop and the same on the bottom front I think I have a photo laying around somewhere. I had it until the 40 Tube XBR came out I think 1998 or 99 I then upgraded since that model two. I can ask my Dealer if you want to know for sure. Also this TV was out the year before I purchased mine and it was in a Rose wood trim. Thanks Joe |

| Television Troublesh... | KF-50XBR800 Ghosting problems! Help! | Yeah I have a 60XBR800. I had my Sony Service man come out and took a look at it a $155.00 call figured it was worth it. He went into the Service Menu and did a lot of adjustments and after the repair it looked better than it did but still had the ghosting. He explained that the image block would have to be replaced if I wanted it any better. I sat there with my mouth open thinking XBR the Best I want it any better? Huh. Thanks I said please get me a price on it and call me back. I called today and they said it would be $900.00 for the Image block and around $200. .. |
| Television Troublesh... | Wega Lamp Issues | Hello I have a 60XBR800 set and bought it about alittle over a year and a half ago. the warranty had gone out 6 or 7 months ago. I noticed that the Picture would shutoff. The Led would blink continously. Not the Lamp LED but the Red one. Anyway I live in Florida we get alot of brown outs down here either from Thunderstorms or just Bad Electric Company problems. Anyways this TV was doing this about for around 5 to 6 months I would say in the begining it would happen about once a month and I would just turn it off and unplug the set to reset the TV. S .. |
| Television Misc and ... | Mystery of the trailing "L"... | Hello I purchased a FS100 from a local Dealer and decided to return it for a better price from Sears I purchased the other from Sears and noticed it was a FS100L. I checked the Date on my FS100 Manufactured in March 2004 and the L model was made in December 2003. My FS100 I am returning has a bad Red convergence problem from the top left hand corner down to the bottom of the set and over to the center kind of like in the shape of the letter "L".
