| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | PS3 to Receiver, sound from center channel is earl | Hi, the receiver only has Composite video inputs and Composite single RCA (yellow) video output. Running PS3's 1080p via composite just to get rid of the audio delay would be an overkill, because we would go down to SD quality and watching Bluray movies won't be fun. So for now I will live with the delayed sound, alternatively, I will check if I can route the sound from TV then out to A/V somehow. |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | PS3 to Receiver, sound from center channel is earl | But my receiver does not have HDMI inputs. I wish it did so I could just have a single input to my TV but the next best thing would be just plain composite inputs. Maybe a longer toslink may help delay the sound a bit... |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | PS3 to Receiver, sound from center channel is earl | Hi Maxxwire, I got a chance to test it, but it was too late to report back. I tried it again today and I turned off bunch of settings in the A/V Receiver, as well as setting all distance to 0 and non of it helped. I think it has something to do with the Toslink/Fiberoptic sound connection. In PS3 there is a setting to allow sound through all available outputs. I also enabled that, and I got sound via HDMI to my TV directly and sound via Toslink to my receiver. What I found out was confirming my suspicion. The sound via HDMI to TV comes through a split second later, matching the video .. |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | PS3 to Receiver, sound from center channel is earl | Thanks, it's past midnight, too late to test with T2. I will give it a try when I get back home from work tomorrow. So I should decrease the distance for center channel only? |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | PS3 to Receiver, sound from center channel is earl | Thanks for the suggestion, should the distance be increased or reduced? It is now set at 5 feet in the setup mode, which is the highest (or farthest) it can be, so are the front two channels. I am sitting about 14ft from the TV and the speakers (14 from center, 17 from two sides and about 6 from rear two) [ This message was edited by: hyedipin on 2012-07-24 22:44 ] |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | PS3 to Receiver, sound from center channel is earl | I noticed that the sound is early, I can notice it from center speaker, for example when there is something crunching on the scene, i hear it a split second earlier than the actual crunching (T-1000 stepping on sunglasses when he is chasing the gang in hospital hall) Is there any setting I need to change in my A/V receiver? The sound is set up via toslink from PS3. Optical Audio is out of sync with video. ----------------- Current Equipment http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/6800/sonystuff.png [ This message was edited by: hyedipin on 2012-07-26 22:59 ] |
| Television Troublesh... | Did Motion Enhancer stop working? | I don't see much difference between Motion Enhancer on and off anymore. I don't have that "soap opera" look anymore no matter what I tried. It first disappeared from my DVI to HDMI connection from my PC, then rest of the sources. Before I could easily see the difference, everything was extremely smooth, but now when I set it OFF or HIGH, I don't see much difference, if any at all. TV is 52W4100. Any ideas?[addsig] |
| Television Configura... | PC connection via HDMI, how to get normal picture | I hooked up my Radeon 4550 to my 52W4100 via HDMI. Initially (without the drivers loaded on the computer) it identified the connection as video, I could turn on ME, use Vivid setting, and have a perfectly sharp picture with beautiful sound. The moment I installed the Radeon's Catalyst software, TV started identifying it as PC Monitor connection, and immediately disabled most of picture/color customizations including Motion Enhancer. Now, when I compare my other HDMI, the picture looks soft (correctly colored, but soft) and jittery (not that jittery, it is just that I can tell ME is of .. |

| Television Troublesh... | 52W4100 Vertical Line 2 inches from right | Hi Everyone, Just dropping in to say that I recently had a vertical line appear on my screen, local techs came in tried to replaced the panel but they also had to replace the board and sony had sent wrong board.. anyway they hauled the TV away and brought it back yesterday after "fixing" it. And today it is terrible. It is all Purplish and has bunch of lines and boxes like vertical scanlines, flickering all over the place, and after about 30 minutes it dissipates. Turn off and turn it back on after it cools down, it is there once again... This TV is driving me crazy. Oh, and after I got .. |
| Television Troublesh... | 52W4100 Vertical Line 2 inches from right | Do you have an address? I think I have to open a case first. Last time I sent pictures (first they said they saw the pictures and said it was normal -in fact I had not sent anything yet, I called to get e-mail address), and later when I sent it, they said they did not see it, and I should send again, and I never got an answer, until the tech came out and left without doing anything. I lost confidence in their support long ago. |
| Television Troublesh... | 52W4100 Vertical Line 2 inches from right | Here are the pictures, digital camera does not match pixel-to-pixel but you can still see the lines. Click on thumbnails to see them full size. :-( How can I explain this case to SONY? Do I just say there is a line when I turn on the TV and it sometimes disappears? Can I run some diagnostics myself? ----------------- Current Equipment http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/2488/sonysignaturegn6.png [ This message was edited by: hyedipin on 2009-04-27 15:30 ] |
| Television Troublesh... | 52W4100 Vertical Line 2 inches from right | Great, I am the only one (or the first one) with this issue. Pictures will follow. |
| Television Troublesh... | 52W4100 Vertical Line 2 inches from right | When I first turn on the TV there is a vertical line which remains there for 10 or so minutes, then disappears. Has this been reported before? If I turn off/on, the vertical line does not go away. I checked other inputs, the line is still there. [addsig] |
| Television Troublesh... | Please comment: KDL-52W4100 Backlight bleeding/flo | It all reduces evenly but never goes away, so in the end, the overall picture brightness is reduced, effect of that "flashlight" is also reduced but since the reduction is even on both, you can still notice it. I really don't mind much of the other stuff, they are all OK since they are scattered around and evenly, but that top right corner is really bugging me. |
| Television Troublesh... | Please comment: KDL-52W4100 Backlight bleeding/flo | KDL52W4100 Here is my torture: If you can't see it, please adjust your brightness to see all bars equally: Service Call 1: Tech comes and says "oh, we need to replace the panel" He goes, orders the panel, 1 month later panel arrives at SONY... Service Call 2: 2nd Tech comes with a 3rd Tech, has no idea what 1st tech did, before he comes he asks me to disconnect the TV and make it accessable for work to be done, but when he arrives he says he needs to see the problem. I tell him problem does not become visible until 1-2 hours after I start watching, basically it needs to warm up. .. |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | STR-K840P's Subwoofer problem | I checked the settings, it was the first thing. I set up the BASS to +6 and the knob is turned all the way up.. |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | STR-K840P's Subwoofer problem | I have STR-K840P A/V receiver, and recently the subwoofer started sounding very weak. I barely get any bass/LFE out of it. I hooked up regular RCA cable, and finally bought monster subwoofer cable, still no luck. It sounds very weak and low, as opposed to the way it used to, strong and pounding... I recently moved, is it possible something happened during the move? There are no physical defects or damages on it. Could it be the cables? I will try hooking it up using its own 3 or 4 feet cable, (very short) orange cable it came with but I just dont have room there.[addsig] |
| Television Troublesh... | Please comment: KDL-52W4100 Backlight bleeding/flo | Thanks. I like Plasmas too, they look like huge CRTs with high resolution. They have a problem, though, I just don't feel like they have the sharpness. Sure blackest blacks are nice, but I won't go into comparing LCD to Plasma. As for this bleeding/flashlight, it jut feels like if I could just squeeze the LCD from behind towards the bezel, it would disappear. It is like there is a tiny gap and light is seeping through. Well, I either have to sacrifice bright brilliant glowing colors (reducing brightness), or live with this. |
