My GDM-F500 apparently has a coating on the outside of the glass screen which is developing small circular areas where the coating appears to be gone. Does anyone have experience with this problem? Can the coating be replaced? Also, what is the best way to clean the screen on these monitors?
The 40XBR800 is currently being discounted to as little as $ 1,800. Is this a prelude to its being discontinued, as its been around almost 3 years now? Does anyone know if a replacement is planned?
Bell'o is currently running an ad for the AVSC-2101 and 2103 which states that it "accomodates up to a 40" direct view TV". But it does not hold the only 40" TV currently being produced: Sony 40XBR800. Bello's view is that the ad is not misleading because it holds the older Sony models. I think that the ad should make clear that it does not apply to current models - I am writing this so others will not fall victim to what I believe is outrageous deceptive advertising.
I am thinking of purchasing a 40XBR800, but 2 things are holding me back. Should they? 1) The lack of Firewire support. Although Sony sold me a camera (TRV950) with Firewire out, there is no input on the 40/800. The camera only has composite and S outputs to link into the TV, thus degrading the existing picture quality. Do you think Sony will add this during their next iteration (40/900) - especially since they went with DVI on the 40/800? Is there another piece of equipment which I could place between the camera and the TV which has Firewire inputs and component outputs which would ..
