Looking through the fault list the BU board is always listed first for our symptoms. I think I am gonna take the gamble on the BU board. Its more expensive but its also more sceptible to external influences like spikes in the coax or LAN or external audio connectors. In any case I'm just not ready to throw in the towel. The only challenge is it first provides error code of 6 blinks then if you attempt to power up again it provides the 3 blink code. Then the Sony name will turn off and the stanby light will begin to blink 6 times. If I press power a second time the screen will attempt to power up only once and then the standby light will blink 3 times.
