Hi Max, Well our little boy is a handful as well. Wants to be awake all the time which is a bit of a problem. Anyway hopefully he will settle down soon.......I hope! Kind Regards Mark
We have a baby boy. Michèl Jovanny born on Christmas day (3 weeks early). He is doing very well. Parents are suffering from a dramtic lack of sleep. But things will improve. Yes I'm sure the 5400ES will server me well as had the DA9000ES. Cheers! Mark
Hi Guys, Sorry for the late reply. Work has been really busy and we have a new baby, so outside work he has been taking almost all of my/our spare time. Not complaining just explaining why the late reply. Nick thaks for the links and your thoughts. My you have been very busy haven't you, and you're been through so much gear with all your testing. Thanks to all for your replies. I picked up a used STR-DA5400ES on eBay to use as a Pre/Pro with my TA-DA9000ES for Blu Ray and HDMI switching. I'm happy enough with it for this purpose. I will still be feeding th ..
Hi Mykl, Thank you for your warm welcome back! Yes my arrangement will certainly be different to your Bi-Amping experiment. Why am I not surprised to hear that Nick has tried something like this with his DA9000ES. I read about his many activities with finding the perfect solution. But I must have missed the Pre/Pro thread somehow. I will certainly report back my finding once I've got everything inplace and tested. Hi parney, Thanks for the reply. I thought someone with a TA-DA9000ES might have already tried this sort of option. I guess not! I guess I will just do it and report back. Cheers! Mark
Hi Guys, Been ages since I posted here. Just been busy with life. Anyway just wanted your thoughts on something I'm thinking about. I still have my Sony TA-DA9000ES and love it just as much as I did when I purchased it. Still haven't heard anything that provides the same audio quality for SACD etc. But I want to update so I can have integrated HDMI switching and Blu Ray Audio decoding. At present I have an external HDMI swicher that just died, and a Sony BDP-S550 Blu Ray player that decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio etc. to it's 7.1 Analog outs which are connected to the Sony TA-D ..
Hi Guys, Long time since I've was last here. Have have had an interesting 12 months since I was last here. Long Story. I now a single man. Nick I've got an email and I will reply as soon as possible. I was in the UK last month visiting some friends. I did want to try and catch-up with you but things didn't go as planned . Anyway I really enjoyed the UK, France, West Africa (Cameroon). Still haven't found anything that matches, or beats Sony TA-DA9000ES. Sad isn't it ! It was way ahead of it's time. I see that latest Pioneer SCLX72, SCLX82 and SCLX90 Receivers are using Bang & ..

However with the Australian Dollar worth nothing (almost) at the moment, I think I'll just stick with the BDP-S550 for the time being. Tried to source a STR-DA7100ES at the time without success. The idea was to use the iLink between the the Pioneer DV-S969AVi and the STR-DA7100ES. The Pioneer VSX-AX4AVi has iLink but it not the same....If you know what I mean. Kindest Regards Mark [addsig]

Hi Peter, As Nick has said a decoding player like the PS3 can decode all the new Blu-Ray Audio codecs to LPCM for the STR-DA7100ES to accept via HDMI. Have a look at the BDP-S550 Manual here: http://support.sony-europe.com/hav/hv/bdp/bdp.aspx?site=odw_en_GB&m=BDP-S550 Have a good look at pages 45 and the matrix on page 65. I'm using a PS3 with my TA-DA9000ES for Blu-Ray, however the TA-DA9000ES doesn't have any HDMI inputs so I'm limited to using Toslink at the present time for Blu-Ray Audio. My plan as Nick indicated, is to buy a BDP-S550 when they become availabl ..

I think we can all do better buying the BDP-S550 and use the analog outputs to drive the 9000ES directly. This already works very well for SACD off the 5.1 multi-channel outs on my DVD player, which has a 192khz/24-bit DAC for its analogue stage (though the audio quality of SACD versus standard CD or standard DVD might equate for a lot of this difference).... I've been meaning to reply to this for a while of course. Perhaps I did listen too much to what Thomas Norton said in the UAV review, rather than listen to my own ears with the amplifiers side-by-side. I don't think many reviewers used the i-link input, which is where the 9000 really springs to life. The thing that really swayed me was the 7100 performance with LPCM from BD, but that's not turning ..

Hi Nick, Sorry to hear you are selling your TA-DA9000ES. I'm currently using aPS3 for Blu Ray (Toslink Audio only). However I'm going to get one ofthe new Sony BDP-S550 when they are released mid year. It will have 7.1Analog outputs, Ethernet port and BD-Live etc. So I will use the 7.1 ADC inputs on my TA-DA9000ES for Blu Ray movie soundtracks. By the way, have you update your PS3 Firmware to version 2.30, which will convert DTS-HD Master Audio to LPCM via HDMI? Anyway good luck with your auction. The only way I'd part with myTA-DA9000ES is if it died and was unrepairable. ..

It would never know that the source was THD. That's how my 7100 behaves. I thought that might be worth looking out for, but having said that, I can't find any evidence that there is a STR-DA9100ES for sale anywhere. I suspect it might be a new ..
