Is that about right? How dangerous is this? Is there a shock risk? Start out by unplugging the set and discharging the HV from the picture tube to the chassis. Then, look for large electrolytic capacitors and make sure that they are discharged. Its best not to use a direct short. A 10 ohm, 5 watt resistor should work just fine.
