These are awesome I'm sure, but we need Sony to release a more affordable ES line of speakers. Something like 1/10th the cost of these, but with a similar design and look. They've taken it too far to the extreme high end with these, IMO.
Yes, I have the receiver. I am unable to try it because I don't yet have a TV that will accept 1080/24fps. I'm aware that the manual specs do not specifically list 1080/24fps. I have seen some reports online that it does work, at least on some setups.
Very interesting. I've owned the 4ES. I have a DG1000 now, which has a similar build and amplifier section as the 5700ES (the DG1000 really has the exact same amplifier section as the 5200ES). To my ears and to my surprise the DG100 sounded better than the 4ES (and the 5ES) and has plenty of clean power. In particular, I'd say the sound is firmer and tighter, where as the 4ES and 5ES sounded 'softer' by comparison. I've have two DG1000s set up that have been in use now for about 5 years and the performance of both has been flawless. Pretty amazing ..
Hi Everyone. It's been a while. Can anyone confirm if the DG1000 will pass through 1080p/24fps via HDMI? There seem to be conflicting reports on this, but I figured someone here would likely know. Thanks.
They have a tighter, truer more evenly balanced sound to my ears. The DA4 and DA5 sound a little softer and more rounded to my ears. I could never go back to either. Check out a recent review over at AVS of someone who bought one via their recent sale. He wasn't disappointed: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1303197&highlight=sony $699 with free shipping is a steal.
I'm going to have to disagree with everyone here. These new Sony receivers have better amps than the both the DA4 and the DA5 (I've owned both). Yes, they have slightly less power reserves, but unless you're driving some really inefficient speakers they have a large amount of clean power. The DA6400ES at $700-800 is a great deal - I would not pass it up if it has all the features you want and need. (*You might also note the power ratings on the backs of the new receivers are 480W, where as the DA4 is only 450W. Trust me, they have plenty of power).
I check regularly and this particular model very rarely ever comes up for sale, which usually means its a long term keeper. I bought it as a backup for my DG1000 a couple years ago. Vanns was having a sale on the DA4400ES for only $599 new so I couldn't resist and bought one. Obviously it will now serve as a backup for my DG1000 which is still running strong after nearly 3 years now. [ This message was edited by: RWetmore on 2010-07-02 19:36 ]
I have a brand new, still factory sealed STR-DA3200ES that I'm selling. $400 shipped to the lower 48. If anyone is interested, please email me at wetmorer @hotmail.com I also have the original receipt from Tweeter dated 7/29/08 which I will include for warranty purposes.
