| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | Sony STR-DA4ES - Sound Levels | First and foremost, thank you very much for your time. Secondly, please excuse my ignorance in my response as I am a newbie to the sounds system game. SPCOOLIN - All of my speakers are from the same manufacturer and from the same series (center, two towers, and two surrounds). I have gone through the DA4 and tried to set up the speaker levels thought the SPL meter that gives off a hissing sound to each channel but this has not helped. Is there another function that I am missing in the DA4 and if so how can I exploit it to fix the problem? Thank yo .. |
| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | Sony STR-DA4ES - Sound Levels | Hello - I have a Sony STR-DA4ES receiver and when I watch DVDs I notice a considerable difference between the loudness when music plays and when there is direct dialog. I am finding myself turning up the dialog parts of the movie and then turning down whenever music comes on. Is there a way to make both dialog and music the same sound level? | Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | Input Question for iPod - 4ES Receiver | Mark - Thanks for your input and I agree, I cannot find any evidence that would allow anything besides a analog hook up. I purchase a lot of songs from iTunes, and my iPod is the only option for listening to them on my stereo. Do you have any other suggestions? How do you listen to your downloaded music on your stereo? I am connecting my ipod via the analog red and white jacks. What do you suggest? I don't know if there are any other coaxial inputs left on the back of the 4es? Help? I currently have it hooked up to Video 1 and it sounds like crap. | Getting Started/Buil... | Universal Remote???? Suggestions? | I recently bought the STR-DA4ES, I have a standard cable box, Toshiba DVD, and a 27" TV. I am fed up with the DA4ES's remote as it's very confusing. I am looking for some suggestions as to what a suitable universal remote would be. I have looked at the RM-AV3000, but have heard mixed reviews. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time. |

| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | STR-DA4ES Setup HELP!!! Please | I recently bought the da4es receiver and I just hooked it up last night. I am running a Harman 12" powered sub with it along with two Sapphire towers, center channel and two surrounds. All of the equipment is new. I am new to the home entertainment center game and now I am confused?!?!?\ Last night when I was setting up the receiver, I ran into some complications that are probably a result of my ignorance. I followed the manual and adjusted the speakers setting to my two towers being "large", center "small", and the surrounds "small", I also coordinated the feet away from the couc .. |

| Amp/Receiver/Speaker... | STR-DA4ES with Klipsch Speakers? | I recently bought a Sony STR-DA4ES, after going and testing the Klipsch speakers I loved them and I have heard good things about them working with ES receivers. Has anyone any info on a good Klipsch series? I was thinking about the S or R series? Any thoughts? The R series is quite expensive. Also what is the difference between the RF-3 and the RF-35? Can you still combine a Klipsch center speaker RC-3 with the newer RF-35? Thank you for your help. You help is ever so appreciated!! To answer you question about what will the system be used for? I guess what I am looking for is the best of both worlds. I'd say 65% to 70% HT and 35% - 30% stereo music. I would like to use satellite speakers with a good powered sub but I am afraid that I won't get the crisp quality. I'd propose and like to get your ideas and thoughts on this idea. How about towers for the front two channels, complimented .. |

I am not stuck on having a sub with sats, do they produce just as good as the overall tower speakers? Will I run into the same trouble that I did with the bose if I go with a package deal? I was thinking of havinbg two tower speakers up front for the right and left and two smaller speaker for the surround back right and left? The back speakers are the ones that I would ideally like hooked to the wall, these carry less power correct? the frount two carry most of the power, correct?Any suggestions? | Getting Started/Buil... | Sony STR-DA4ES - HELP with Speakers!! | Thank you all for your excellent comments. I am looking for some speaker that will really bring out the DA4ES’s magic. I have limited space in my living area and I am looking to maximize the sound and space for both music and theatre. I have budgeted around $700 to $900 for speakers and a sub. Ideally I would like to get a front right and left, and a back right and left. If the speakers could be mounted on the wall it is a plus. I have looked at the HK 150 watt 12” sub and have thought about that for my sub, also I have heard good things about it. Any thoughts and advice on spea .. |
| Getting Started/Buil... | Help with Speak Selection | Thank you for help in this matter. I am looking to build a system around a Sony STR-DA4ES receiver that I just bought recently. I have 5 bose double cube speakers, I have been advised against the cube speakers as the Bose subs will take away from the magic of the DA4ES. Please keep in mind that I have limited space, thus the attraction to the cube speakers. I would like to keep it reasonable. What speaker do you suggest and what sub do you suggest?
