Television Configura...36XBR800 does not have a clear picture!!Hi Jwrebl When I first bought my 36xbr 2 years ago, I noticed the same thing. After repeated attempts to boost the cable signal from the street to my TV, I gave up on cable. I was pissed because all my other video sources looked awesome except for the so called digital cable. I then gave it 1 more try with Direct TV. Needless to say I have been extremly happy since switching over. Everyone who comes over to my house are amazed at the picture and colors from my Sony. I wish you luck with your cable provider. Mechanoid1
Television Misc and ...Help Finding a non-Sony stand for 40XBRGuys, I can't believe the prices and the work that some will do, just for a stand. Get the best deal you can with the TV and stock stand. Save your money!! Then once you get it home, modify the stand. On the 36XBR's I was able to add brackets and create more room inside by trimming some internal supports. My Cousin, got the 40" with the Sci-Fi glass shelf stand. He replaced the shelfs with a custom Plexi, which is larger to accomodate his external components. We both have succefully cramed 10 lbs of stuff into a 5 lbs box. And for way less $$$$ Mech1 ..
Television Misc and ...SONY KV32XBR450 vs. PHILIPS 32PT8419Has anyone compared these two sets? I am leaning towards the Philips even though I am an avid Sony fan. I own the 36xbr and it's great, however I am now shopping for a bedroom TV and the Philips picture is awesome. Either one can be got for around $1600 so money isn't the issue. Any comments about past experience with Phillips would be helpful. Thanks Mech1
Television Misc and ...here's one for yaHi Wyatt I know you switched from the XBR over to the 36fv27 and got a 100x improvement using cable. So I'm not sure why you would need to help out the picture? If you are trying to make the picture from Cable better? Try using a SAT dish. If you want an awsome picture try the Sat with the XBR. Oh and the standard Sat box has both S-Video and the normal composite audio/video. I'm sorry if this doesn't help, I just hate cable, and like to to vent it on the net. I hope the Cable spies read this and report back so that they get on the ball and upgrade their systems. ..
Television Troublesh...what are proper adjustments for xbr450? I have found that turning down the sharpness (1/4), and keeping the VM on high works for me. I also found that by getting rid of digital cable and hooking up the cable straight into the TV gave me the best picture. Now I only use DirectTv, since they now broadcast all of my local channels. Maybe your cable is better than mine, however there is no comparison between the picture quality of Sat vs. Cable. Digital Cable is how the Cable companies squeeze more channels over the existing Co-axial cable that has been run. You get more channels, but unfortunatly you also get a lower qualit ..
Television Misc and ...Anyone using 36xbr450 with analog cable?I run mine with basic cable as an antenna option. I have DirectTV Sat on vid5 (comp input)I tried digital cable at first and was horribly dissapointed. When I got rid of the Box and hooked up the cable directly to the input of the TV the picture was great. With the savings of disconntinuing digital Cable I added Direct TV. If you buy a digital/HD-comp TV. Be ready to supply it with a clean signal! If not just go back and get a normal TV and wait for Cable to supply true digital signals in about 5-10 years. The other TV (KV-36FV27) costs less about $600 however I'm not sure if it is the la ..
Television Misc and ...KV36XBR450 Sears and price match questionBefore I bought mine. I searched the web and found the best deal I could get with shipping and delivery and setup and warranty. I printed it out and went over to CC. They hemed and hawed at how they didn't price match with the internet. I told them I would buy it right there and then if they could match the price. They said no, I said fine and started out the door. Before getting out the door they came after me and said fine, and matched the price. I felt like I was buying a car from a car salesman. I went ahead and bought it there because just in case something went wrong I ..

I have no need for more gadgets at this time. My picture from the Sony via the SAT is awesome. I have alot of local over the air channels that are broadcasting in HDTV but I don't need to go to that yet. I replied originally to thisTopic because I too had the same exact feelings when I first bought this TV (XBR400) about a year ago. However with my switching over to SAT vs. Cable, I ..

I got the dish and Box for Free, and Pay a monthy subscription of ~$50. That's in line with what my Cable bill was. The only difference is that I get a few more channels but the quality and the reliability of the signal surpasses Cable. I see deals all the time, Some have you pay $50 up front and get a bunch of channels for the first 1-3 months then you agree to subscribe for a year to a particular package. Others li ..
Television Configura...pixelization on XBR 450Hey guy's I bought this TV a while ago and noticed that my digital cable was terible. I found out that connecting the cable directly to the set improved the picture tremendously, Yet now I didn't get the premium channels? So I invested $0's and got Direct TV. Oh my God, what a difference. The picture is stunning. Almost as good as DVD. You see when the cable company says digital, they mean digital compression. They need to squeeze as many channels as they can over that cable line running around all over town. They go digital so that they can get more channels over ..
