    DVDCX777ES Firmware upgrade and CX985V service menuI think equal, before try to put file "mega_vup.bin" from 1.51 CD to flash memory directly.... Not work! I try to "swap bytes" in file and other trucks, but nothing... I can to send you 1.52 file. You can try to update your player via CD. Maybe, after this operation, you need desold out flashmemory for back to life your SONY. Im very lazy for make this experiment and desold TSOP48 chip package for recuperation. Sorry.
    DVDCX777ES Firmware upgrade and CX985V service menuI have only BINary file for DIRECT programming of chip. I get it from other new CX777ES player. It diferent data with file for CD update.... 100%. You need desold out the memory 29DL324 and programm it. After cleaning "Emergensy History" i have all "0" in history menu,  but still with "ROM mismatch".... its equal...  All futures work ok In this time i work with all-region modification...maybe PAL, but have many idea...     DVDUpload SORRY MY ENGLISH. I have service-manuals documents for two similar players: DVP-CX985V and DVP-CX777ES. Schematics and pictures of PCBs included. Anybody can to try modify the CX985V model to similar CX777ES, or use this documents for repair and service...     DVDDimension question on DVP CX-777ES (or 985V)About 55 sm, if you need close the rack with any door... This player have many parts in front panel out of feet. The "clear", only box size - 52 sm.  Good luck.
    DVDWay to make CX777ES Region 2Yes, the DVP-CX985V and DVP-CX777ES players have universal motherboard with all needed places for PAL parts, maybe for futures European models. The system-control chip MB91307 from this board have pins for region and PAL-NTSC configuration. Need only make many modifications with resistors and shortpoints... But maybe need make modify in FLASH memory, this is dificult way. Need many free time for my for find good result.
    DVDWay to make CX777ES Region 2 ANY motherboard of SONY, the CX777ES (CX985V) include, have chipset 100% compatible with PAL and any region. Need only "configure" this DVD for use in different modes. Maybe need make changes in FlashMemory.  I have CX985V in my hands and in short time make many experiments.     DVDDVP-CX985V need helpI already tried to play disks PAL in ALL zone is does not work! I am able to create disks with the help of different programs for record. The disks created by me work on other PAL compatible players from SONY. I can tell with confidence the following:  My player  does not play any disks the zone 1 or ALL, except for NTSC. It is possible, that there are the users having this model with other firmware and compatible with PAL. I am ready to buy contents of flesh-memory such player CX985V.   I am adjusted very opt ..
