Thanks.. The tuner lights up and works when the power is switched on. I haven't tried the cassette player. When I click on the CD player button, the display lights don't go on at all. It doesn't seem to be getting any power. I'm thinking it is time to move on to another system. This one provided good service since 1993, so no complaints. I'm checking craigslist for some alternatives. I do appreciate your trying to track it down for me.
Does anyone have any further suggestions on how to diagnose this problem? It seems odd that everything else powers on, but the changer doesn't. The power cord attaches to the receiver section, which in turn has two 1 inch wide detachable ribbon wire connectors. One to the display and the other to the CD changer. I have the repair manual pdf, if anyone cares to look at it. Thanks!
OK.. So I've opened it up to look for a fuse and haven't seen anything that I would recognize. I did notice on the schematic for the changer that there is something labeled "reset" on a diagram labeled: IC203,204 LA5601 . I don't have the knowledge to relate that to a specific circuit board or location. Taking off the faceplate did enable me to remove the 5 discs!

Don't be afraid to open up the unit and take a look. I guess it couldn't hurt! I downloaded the shop manual, but didn't spot a fuse. I was hoping for a reset button. Hopefully, if there is one, I'll recognize it for what it is!
Yes indeed. That's the one.
The CD player in this compact system won't power on. Amplifier & tuner work, but switching to CD player has no effect. Any suggestions to get this working again? Many Thanks!
