| Sony and Industry Re... | We need paid memberships | If it's a matter of getting the Platinum service and forcing people to pay or keeping the same level of service and not forcing people to pay then I would say just don't get the platinum service. It seems like just an expensive option to me. |
| Television Configura... | DRC V1 - "Reality" "Clarity" and "CineMotion" Sett | If yours is one of the newer sony's where you can turn the DRC off turn it off and leave it off. DRC sucks. If you have a progressive DVD player then let it output a progressive signal to the tv and DRC is not needed then for DVD viewing. I don't know what 'reality' and 'clarity' mean but I have a feeling it's something stupid. |
| Television Configura... | Fuzzy Picture on KP-53HS30 53 Projection TV | With a rear projection set, whenever it is moved , even the slightest amount, it has to have a complete across the screen convergence done on it. This is especially true when the tv has just come off the back of a truck after being delivered. Once the convergence and maybe a refocusing is done you won't believe the picture ! |

| Television Troublesh... | Dark scenes are very difficult to see | What you are seeing is correct. Most night time scenes should be dark. That's why they are night time scenes. We are just used to bad tv's and uncalibrated tv's so we are not used to it. We have to get used to seeing what the director intended and for most night time scenes they don't intend for you to see much. Think about it. Do you see much in real life when it's dark out ? |
| Television Configura... | ctrp in a kv-32fs12 sony wega service menu? | I also wrote down every entry in a notebook. There is no uvml setting listed in the service manual or in my notes. If you could find that setting in your notes I would appreciate it. I also discovered something else. I set the MOVIE and SPORTS displays to the EXACT same settings for picture, brightness, shapness etc. that I set the STANARD display setting to when I set it with VE. When I switch bewteen the settings graphics overlays that are on the screen ( like on QVC ) get blurry in MOVIE but not in STANDARD or SPORTS. So something is tied internally to those display settings. It ma .. |

| Television Configura... | XBR450 arrives Saturday -- what first?? | Don't do ANYTHING untill you get VE. I just got mine last week from bustbuy.com. I waited a year and a half to get it and now I wish I hadn't. It was worth every penny. The picture that I have now that the tv has been calibrated is phenominal. Don't try to change any of the settings yourself, you will drive yourself nuts. Just follow the directions that VE tells you. You may need to go into the service mode though and adjust a couple of things. One is Y-DC as mentioned above. When you get to the part in VE where you have to set the black level with the pluge test VE will say that you should se .. |
| Television Troublesh... | SRS | Has anyone heard better sound from their Wega with the SRS turned on. When I turn it on on my KV32FV15 it makes everthing sound like it's coming from the right side of the television. I get the best sound using the SIMULATED setting. |
| Television Configura... | The End Of The NTSC Version Of Video Essentials ! | Wrong. The new version is for Progressive Players and Progressive television sets so if you want to calibrate your non-progressive DVD player and Television set you have to get the old version. |

I just bought one from Bestbuy.com. 20 August 2001 The distribution of Video Essentials will draw to a close nearly four years after it was brought to market in October of 1997. It will be making way for a new generation of DVD that uses 1080p/24 High Definition source material and "True Progressive Mastering".
