Amp/Receiver/Speaker...TADA9000ES LPCMHi Oliverg I have the STRDA9000ES with the DVI, but have always had trouble with the video switching, I beleive due to PAL issues. I love the 9000, it is awesome, but since I got my PS3 I had to changeover to the 5300 to get the LPCM (which I must say is really great audio on BD). Unfortunately the 9005 tranfer period seems to have lapsed and was only offerred in Japan as far as I know. [addsig]

Blu-Ray/HD DVD2008-04-22 09:28I hope this isnt too controversial, as I'm guessing most of us are component geeks..... but I just wanted to state here in this section IMHO the prowess of the PS3 as a BD player. But I went out and bought a PS3, as I wasn't happy with the BD components out with lack of audio decoding and 24p etc etc. What I liked about the PS3 is below: Software/Firmware Upgrades - and they've been coming fast including 24p capablilty and WMA compatibility HDTV Tuner coming this year SACD through HDMI - so sue me, I love SACD....... Blu-Ray/HD DVDbuy a sony bluray playerBUMP - for someone in your region to answer as I'm not familiar with some of these models. But if you havent bought yet, don't leave PS3 off your list, its a better BD player than it should be for a games console! [addsig]
Blu-Ray/HD DVDAVCHD- Please Help!Did you get a disc with the camcorder. You can view the videos on your computer on the 'picture motion browser' on the cd. Otherwise unfortunately, it can not be played on a standard DVD player. A PS3 will certauily work though as I can view my AVCHD movies on one. [addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA5300ES GutsHi All For anybody interested I just have a small update to my complaint below. I have since diagnosed my video conversion problems to a faulty component video cable. It was a very expensive and high quality cable that had always worked fine with the DVP777 - STRDA9000 previously, but during the swap over got faulty. Once I replaced that cable the video drop outs stopped and I have been VERY happy with all video conversion (from component, svideo and composite) to HDMI on the 5300. A recent upgrade to a 1080p capable LCD panel hasnt hurt my feelings towadrs HDMI and video upconve ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...5300es pink videoNo I've never seen this on mine. Does it go pink on BOTH inputs (I know it often fixes when you swap over, but has it happened to both), or just one? Is the 5300 the only new item, or are the LCD and BluRay machine new too? [addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...First impressions - STRDA 5300ES vs. STRDA 5000ES On 2007-12-30 18:15, SPCOOLIN wrote: mkelch~ I have a question... I was reading the 5300ES manual a couple of weeks back, and seem to remember a note that stated in order to get the High Quality Sound formats you must use HDMI1 input.... Thanks, Steve~ Hi Steve You are right the manual definately states that there is an HDMI input that is designed especially for high quality/fidelity audio - I'm almost certain that HDMI 6 is the one. I have yet to play with it, but I'm not sure what differences there are with it. I just assumed ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...DTS-HD Master on STR-DA5300ES & PS3mmenefee, the guys are right the 5300 is capable, but the PS3 is only outputting standard DTS 5.1 to your 5300 at this stage. Always choose 5.1 PCM (Uncompressed) when you have the option. Once you are watching a movie, hit the "select" button on your PS3 controller, acrross the top of the screen will be shown the Audio & Video compression rates. AUDIO Dolby Digital      448 DTS                 1,500 PCM         &nb ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STRDA-5300ES ALERT (oh-oh)Great job Scott, thanks. My 5300 is an Australian model, but I have no green dot and my serial number starts with 55, so looks like I may be up for an upgrade! I've been having troubles with the HDMI conversion from Component on my 777ES, so hopefully this fixes that as well. (Unless its a Reg1/NTSC problem instead)
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Mod Maxx Surpasses 19KWhen you get to 20,000 I think that we definately need to ask Claudio to re-jig the senior members scale! Thanks Maxx [addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony DA5300ES - Video Resolution and Multi-ChannelSorry I'm not much help to you, whenever I do get picture on my 5300, its quality is good, even converted from SVideo up to HDMI. My issue with the 5300 is that it will NOT convert component viodeo from my 777ES which is reg1 NTSC. My Oz spec 5300 just goes black screen and shows the picture for 1 second out of every 30 seconds then goes blank again (doesnt matter what the picture output quality is set to)..... But it works perfectly if I take out the component and connect either Composite or SVideo through the to 5300 it'll upgrade it perfectly to HMDI no probs... One thing to k ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...BI-Amping the N9000ES in BTL  I have some experience with the TAN in BTL mode, and that mainly includes packing up my beautiful SS-X70ED towers and carting them to the Sony repair place to have the drivers and woofers replaced....... Consequently, I have just regined in my TAN by taking it off BTL mode and just using it as a 2 ch AMP for my fronts. The comparison was made over a period of weeks unfortunately while the 7's were away getting repaired, but I havent been missing the BTL mode too much, certanily soundnig nice and deep from the front end still. So my recomendation: ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA5300ES GutsHi Joe - nice to chat again. From what I can see, I beleive the speaker binding posts are the same size as my DA9000 (which is sitting right next to it). Further updates for anyone interested.... - Video conversion from Component to HDMI is VERY sketchy with burnt DVD. Blacks out and lots of clicking later picture is only sporadic. quite dissapointing. Otherwsie the conversion works well even from Composite to HDMI. - Automatic Calibration is MUCH cooler than I thought it would be. Didnt even think I'd use it but its very detailed and cool. Cord could be longer tho ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA5300ES Guts Hi Maxx - hope things are going well for you. Looks like only Japans getting the TADA5300 this time around. Obviously we got a modified version of their TADA9000, but this time we got the STR-DA. Its not consistant at all. Interesting on the 5200 that they've gone back to Analogue amps. The 7100 and the 9000 appear to be the last of the big amps with SMaster.... I wonder why that is, and whats the next one going to be - 9100 appears stalled anywhere else but Japan also?[addsig]

Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA5300ES Guts Hi Agoraquestrians Just thought you might enjoy a peek at the ugly bits of a 5300. 3 hour review: GUI menu is terrific Dolby TrueHD is much louder than DD5.1 DTSHD doesnt come through my PS3   HDMI Video upconverting is great convieniance, but quality good not perfect Only 1 Multi Ch input..... Remote is huge a complex with alot of "shift + buttonx" control needs Be happy to answer any question anyone may have. Rgards Craig[addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony STR DA5300ES Earns A Spectacular ReviewThanks Maxx, I havent seen any of the new ES range yet. I'm not exactly up on it all unfortunately, but did what happened to the 9100 - why didnt we get the HDMI moster that we were waiting for?[addsig]
Television Troublesh...Black Bars on my HD TVYou've described your problem well, I'm afraid I dont have an answer, but I thought I'd give your issue a bump to see if anyone else has an idea. Definately sounds like a cable box problem, not your TV. The one thing you could try is to pull the box out and try it on another TV in the house, then you could prove to the eggs at the cable company that it is the box, and request/demand a replacement? Lastly since your TV is capable of 1024x1024, you're not actually pulling down the 1080i anyway, 720p is as good as your TV can display, so you're not really missing anything by sett ..
DVDsony rdr-hx725sHave you tried different TYPES of discs, not just a different disc of the same brand? Yes you're using Sony discs, but somtimes players will burn more easily to +R than to DVD-R. Sorry if you already know this? Let us know if you find a solution.[addsig]
