| Television Troublesh... | KV-30HS510 blinking 6 times | Many Sony CRT power up problems are due to a failure of an 18 pin MCZ3001D IC. These ICs cost about $6 each and some desoldering and soldering is required to replace them. Search this forum for "MCZ3001D" for a ton of info. Check out this thread where a KV-30HS510 was repaired with an MCZ3001D replacement: http://www.agoraquest.com/viewtopic.php?topic=31664&forum=34 |
| Television Troublesh... | KD-34XBR960 IC swap | I agree with Skytrooper. Just leave them. That's what I did. |
| Television Troublesh... | Sony Kv36HS500? | I'm sure you've checked this but are the batteries fresh in your remote? When the batteries are low, I've had "double press" power on behavior with the remote for my KV-36XBR800. |

That was in the time I was involved in solving problems in KV-xxFQ86x TV's, which use the same IC. I've also tried to ask Shindengen for datasheets of both components, but to me they never answered any email message, even when sent from a Sony corporate email address. Thanks for the update. | Television Troublesh... | KV-34XBR910 Power Problem Repair Guidance | 1) Many people have replaced these ICs with inexpensive soldering irons. You will want one with a fine tip. I used a temperature controlled soldering station but those cost $50 and up. 2) Yes, the MCZ3001DB is a suitable replacement. There has been speculation that the "DB" variant is an improved version of the "D" model. But I haven't seen confirmation of that. |
| Television Troublesh... | XBR 400 Dead! Help! | Congratulations on your successful repair! Did you replace the capacitors and the fusible resistors because the IC replacements didn't work? Or did you just want to replace everything at once? (Usually the IC replacements are all that's needed.) |
| Television Troublesh... | Wega KV-36XBR450 IC CHIP Help PLEASE!!! | You might have to pivot/tilt the TV forward a bit in order to take the TV's weight off of the bottom of the plastic cover. Do this carefully as the TV is "tube heavy" and it's prone to tiping over forward. I needed to do this with my KV-36XBR400. Good luck with your repair! Bob |

| Television Troublesh... | Wega KV-36XBR450 IC CHIP Help PLEASE!!! | 1) Yes, all three of those ICs are the MCZ3001D type. (You can also use the MCZ3001DB, which some have speculated is an improved version of the MCZ3001D) 2) Yes, those are the boards in question. Most people just replace one or more of the ICs on the D-Board. I wouldn't bother with the IC6001 on the A-Board unless the D-Board IC repalcements didn't correct the problem. 3) I would leave it unplugged and also be careful about what you touched. That's what I did and I never had a problem. But I think the TV can hold a charges for quite a while. Maybe someone else c .. |

At the moment, there are 48 pages there and I read them all. Take good notes, look at the pictures posted there and good luck! | Television Troublesh... | PLEAS HELP ME ! sony KV-40XBR800 replaced two MCZ3 | Did you disconnect any connectors as part of the repair? If so, double check that you reconnected all of them and disconnect and reconnect every one to assure solid electrical connections. Then take a close look at all of the new solder joints. Re-flow any questionable joints. Look for stray solder and damaged PCB trace material. Did you use sockets? If so, make sure the ICs are completely seated. Good luck! Bob |
| Television Troublesh... | KV-36HS510 6 Blinks, No Picture, No Sound | CathyJ, There are many threads with repair tips. Try a search for "MCZ3001D" to find them. Here's one good example, the "XBR400 Dead" thread: http://www.agoraquest.com/viewtopic.php?topic=1121&forum=34 Good luck! Bob |
| Television Troublesh... | Wega KV-36XBR450 Flyback transformer | The IC is a MCZ3001D. The IC8002 and IC6501 denote locations for those ICs on the D-Board. Also there is a MCZ3001DB variant of the IC available. Some people feel that it is an improved version of the MCZ3001D IC but I have seen no confirmation of that. They are interchangeable. Everything else being equal, I would opt for the "DB" variant. |
| Television Troublesh... | Wega KV-36XBR450 Flyback transformer | I agree with jehill. Also, did the technician make that assessment without running any diagnostics on the TV? |
| Television Troublesh... | SONY KV-30HS510 Replaced Two IC's Set Powered Up | Here's some general advice. Unplug the TV for 30 minutes or so. It's a longshot but some consumer electronics wil reset when unplugged. Check your soldering work for the sockets. Consider re-flowing the solder on all your new solder joints. Check for continuity with a multimeter. Look for any PCB circuit board trace material that might have pulled up during desoldering. Disconnect and reconnect *every* connector that you undid for the repair. Check for additional connectors that you might have missed reconnecting. Be sure that your ICs are firmly seated .. |

| Television Troublesh... | blinking lights (7) KV32HS420 | The ICs are clearly labeled on the D-Board so locating them shouldn't take you too long. Removing the entire D-Board can be a problem because of an often difficult to disconnect wire that runs from the yoke-mounted C-Board to the Flyback (FBT). A better solution may be to rotate the D-Board up into its "Service Position". You shoud be able to do that without disconnecting the wire to the FBT. When I repaired my KV-36XBR400, I slid the entire lower chassis out of the TV and I cut the FBT wire and spliced it back together to complete the repair. Alll of these to .. |
