Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Could I have fried my amps? 2 X TA-N55ES. Would lMy system is somewhat lacking without these two amps powering the fonts so I'd like to repair them. The were connected to a Belkin power module so Belkin is sending me a check for $500 to do so.Does anyone know if there's a power supply that can be used as an upgrade to the old one. I understand that some of these units came with a tordial power supply. Know where I can get one?
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Could I have fried my amps? 2 X TA-N55ES. Would l I tinker with my cars all the time so I have all the tools for that but I haven't ever tinkered with audio equipment although it seems simple enough to figure out now that I have your help. I conneted a 12 volt bulb to the DC output from the transformer and didn't get anything. Tried both sets of black/brown wires on each amp and got nada. I'll go on and test the thermistor as well. What tool do I need to test that? Would a simple volt meter work?
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Could I have fried my amps? 2 X TA-N55ES. Would lThe fuse I checked is on the AC board and is rated at 125V 8A and it works fine. I did some further testing on one of the units and the culprit seems to be the power supply. I hooked up a lamp to the transformer terminals on the AC board and it lights up when I power the unit on. Anyone out there know where i can get a replacement or even an upgrade power supply? Both my amps have the rectangular power supply (not tordial). Neither has any markings or part numbers on them.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Could I have fried my amps? 2 X TA-N55ES. Would lI checked them both and the fuse appears to be intact in both. When I hit the power button nothing happens, no click, no lights, no nothing. I will figure out a way to test the power switch and then go from there. What's the replacement cost for one of these power supplies?
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Could I have fried my amps? 2 X TA-N55ES. Would lI've had a pair of TA-N55ES amps for over 8 years now. I've always ran them in mono to power my fronts. I love these amps but a couple of months ago I had a party and was playing loud music all night. I had noticed that they were running pretty hot but I had seen that in the past so didn't think much of it. Anyway in the wee hours of the morning they just cut off and stopped working. Thinking that they had gone into protect mode I moved my fronts to the receiver to give them a break. Anyway two hurricanes later and I finally got around to reconnecting them but they will not even power up when ..
Television Troublesh...Large Bluish DiscolorationHas anyone considered taking this to the consumer protection guys at their local TV station? My KDF-60XBR950 has this problem too and it looks like a combination of the top left and bottom left pics of what's depicted on their own website. After being asked to schedule a authorized tech to look at my set I too am getting the same story about my model not being covered yet the problem and remedy is the same as those that are getting coverage. After paying close to $4700 for my set this just infuriates me. Are we letting Sony get off easy on this by not making a bigger deal of this ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Anyone selling a STR-DA3ES, STR-DA4ES, STR-DA5ES oI'd be interested in getting one of these to replace my second room STR-DA1ES. I'm doing this coz I need a receiver that has an RS-232c port. Thanks[addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Can STR-DA2100ES be controlled via RS-232c port li If you are refering to my post about using this for voice control then you need to use it in combination with a program like Audiomatic which can be configured to run different programs or batch files based on predefined voice commands chosen by you. In my case for instance I extracted the filed to C:\STRDA4ES\ so when I issue the command " System On " , Audiomatic runs C:\STRDA4ES\1.bat which powers the receiver on.[addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Can STR-DA2100ES be controlled via RS-232c port liI think Toli is right. You may need to sign up first and then right click on the file attached to the post and choose to save as . Left clicking will give you an error message. That was a nice DA7ES on ebay but price went beyond my budget so I dropped off. I'll wait and see if another one shows up.[addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Can STR-DA2100ES be controlled via RS-232c port liThanks I'll watch it but at its current price I'm tempted to just buy one of the newer ES units and get the full 5 year warranty but only if they can be controlled remotely via the RS-232c port like the older units.[addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Can STR-DA2100ES be controlled via RS-232c port li I recently set up my HTPC to control my main room reciever (STR-DA4ES) via voice commands (Audiomation Software) using the command prompt based module posted here. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=547334 It works wonderfully and I'm able to power the receiver on and off, change inputs, adjust volume and sound field all through voice commands. Needless to say I am very thrilled and would like to replace my second room receiver (STR-DA1ES with no RS-232c port) with  one that can be controlled in a similar manner. Short of finding another STR-DA4ES online (c ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Should RM-TP501E remote work With STR-DA4ES?Thanks Toli, The initial communication described on page 6 is what keeps failing even when I hold the remote right in front of the receiver. My receiver is already in AV1 mode. I'll try AV2 when I get home. I'm hoping that the transmitter on my receiver isn't busted. If all else fails do you know how I can just manually configure remote to control generic sony receiver? Couldn't find it under the setup menu. [addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Should RM-TP501E remote work With STR-DA4ES?I just got a hold of a RM-TP501E remote and have been struggling to make it work with my STR-DA4ES receiver but the initial communication that's attempted when you power on the remote will not work and just beeps after a while. I can't get it to control the receiver for even basic functions like volume or changing inputs. It seems to control all my other sony devices fine though. I've read all posts about this particular remote and most mention just the TA-E9000ES Is there any way to manually specify what kind of receiver you are using? I'd appreci ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA4ES: What to do with Signal GND connection Thanks both of you. I guess I won't be needing to use either of these connections since I don't listen to radio at home and do not own a turn table right now.[addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA4ES: What to do with Signal GND connectionit is located right next to the Phono connections so you might be correct. Here's the picture: http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/products/2002/158/x158strda4e-b.jpeg
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA4ES: What to do with Signal GND connection Bought a STR-DA4ES last month but when I received it would shut of after about 5 minutes of use. It's currently back at Sony being checked out but I had an unrelated question. What do the rest of you owners do with the signal ground connection.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA4ES: Can rear amps be used to power 2nd RoomThanks for the responses guys. What I read may have been in reference to another receiver altogether.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DA4ES: Can rear amps be used to power 2nd RoomI remember reading somewhere that this might be possible but I can't find the reference on the forum. What I read went something like: Rear channels can be used to power 2nd room but this will diable 7.1 decoding . This would work great for me as long as I'll still have 5.1 decoding since I have no intention of adding rears to my HT right now. Can anyone confirm that this is true? Television Misc and ...KDF-60XBR950Yup, they called again today wanting to deliver it but I'm at work so we scheduled it for tomorrow since I'll be home.
Television Misc and ...KDF-60XBR950I have been waiting for mine for a month now but finally got a call from CC this afternoon that my set was on it's way from Sony and should be delivered either Friday or this weekend. To me this signals the end of the painful wait that most of us have had to go through. Most stores have long lists of customers that have paid for and are waitnig for delivery of these sets so it may be a week two before you get one if you were to order it.
