I am trying to determine if it is a monitor problem or is it a case of the monitor not receiving the video signal to turn it on. Any chance of using a video out with another known good monitor to check the video signal?Joe |

| First 650 characters of this post | samz2121,Greetings and welcome. I know that this is not what you want to hear but if you do need a new mother board and also a new hard drive it would be more cost effective to replace them with non Sony parts. Most Vaio mother boards are $400 (US) by themselves. If you are capable of replacing the mother board, processor (CPU) and hard drive your self you can do it much cheaper by using other brands besides Sony.
