| Television Troubleshooting | KP-57ws520 Need new G-Board! | geosen | 2 | 2009-11-15 23:00 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I have the KP-57WS520 and it developed the 9-blink issue. I read the posts here and ordered the two replacement diodes for the G-board. I used a solder gun to heat the diodes while waiting because I read that soldering, or applying heat, can help. It did help and the tv worked normal for several weeks. When it developed the 9-blinks again, I had the parts already. The D6301 was no problem but the D6116 worried me because it is so small. I asked a friend with a lot of soldering experience to help. He took the board but while working on it, lost the diode. I ordered another one. How |

| Television Troubleshooting | KP57WS520 Standby Blinks 9 Times | wrrii | 20 | 2008-11-10 18:18 |
| First 650 characters of this post | If you want to solder diode(s) on the G-board yourself, you can first try simply resoldering one or both of the diodes--this appears to sometimes work at least temporarily. Or, you can order the diode(s), remove the old diodes from the G-board and solder in the new ones. With express shipping from Sony Direct Accessories and Parts Center, price is approx $20 for the parts. The other, less labor intensive, fix is to send the G-board to Tri-State Module and have them rebuild it for $48. Then you have a fully rebuilt G-board and don't have to worry abou |
| Television Troubleshooting | KP-57WS520 Problem--no video, blinks 5 times | wrrii | 12 | 2008-11-02 17:38 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I have a KP-57WS520. There is sound but no video. Upon turning on, the red light flashes 5 times (sometimes 6 times). I found plenty of posts for this problem with 9 blinks, but nothing for 5 or 6. I am fairly mechanically adept and really like the TV (I've had it for 3 years). In fact, I'm a big fan of Sony products in general. Anybody know how to fix this? Thanks in advance. [ This message was edited by: wrrii on 2008-11-02 17:56 ] |

| Television Troubleshooting | Sony KP-57WS520 9 blinks, ZCD error | bighitz | 12 | 2008-02-20 15:49 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I'm hoping someone can help me with my TV issue. My Sony KP-57WS520 has the dreaded 9 blink issue. When I went into self diagnosis the only line with an error was ZCD. After reading the forums it seems replacing the G-board or the D6116 & D6301 diodes will fix the issue. Are these the correct part numbers for my TV?A-1054-157-A G BOARD COMPLETED6116 8-719-081-97 (site say part has been replaced by 871907443, is this OK?)D6301 6-500-567-21Are the diodes on the G-b |
| Television Troubleshooting | SONY WEGA KP-57WS520 9 BLINKS G BOARD HELP | cornbreadmaxwell | 1 | 2007-10-29 02:32 |
| First 650 characters of this post | hey folks,I have a SONY WEGA KP-57WS520, got the dreaded 9 blinks, so would like to try and order the D6116 and D6301 and repair it myself. I\'ve read all the posts.I don\'t have any soldering experience, and I\'m actually having trouble getting the G board itself out- without feeling like I will break something.Any step by step advice for an amatuer trying to do this? Also if there are any updates on where to order the parts or places that might repair the G board for cheap. I\'d appreciate any help or advice. Thanks! |
| Television Troubleshooting | Sony KP-51WS520 No Power, No sound, Standby light flashes | richthenoun | 163 | 2007-06-21 22:52 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Guys, some of the information you requested is right here in this thread, the rest is in the site. I mentioned a place that will rebuild your board, and Sony sells the diodes. Someone even tells you where/which diodes to mess with, how to locate the board and what to do with it. You just have to look. If you need a service manual, you can download a lot of them for free at www.schematicsforfree.com. The one for the KP-46WT520 / KP-51WS520 / KP-57WS520 is on that site, here: |

| First 650 characters of this post | I have an STR-DG1000 receiver and a KP-57ws520 CRT RPTV. Page 34 of the DG1000 manual says \"YOu can convert only 480i component video signals into HDMI signals, S video signals, or video signals. Signals are converted from 480i interlace scanning to 480p progressive scanning, then the signals are output.\" Here is a link to the manual http://www.docs.sony.com/release/STRDG1000.pdf.My question is about outputting 1080i signals going in through component, but out HDMI. | Television Troubleshooting | Sony KP-57WS520 (CRT RPTV) - pop heard followed by convergence issue | DaveHi | 2 | 2007-01-23 09:23 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I have a two year old Sony KP-57WS520 (CTR RPTV).About three weeks ago I had a minor 2-3 second brown out at home. As a result, it threw off my TV\'s convergence a bit (most notably the right hand side of screen).I went into the service menu (very familiar with) and corrected it.Then, all of a sudden last night, I\'m watching TV and I heard a slight popping noise - the image for maybe half of a second is off the screen - I notice 2 or 3 horizontal lines flash across the screen - and the image comes back.Well, right afterward I could see my converge |

| DVD | Upscaling of Video and delivery through HDMI Connection DVD Players | DaveHi | 5 | 2006-03-26 17:21 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I have a CRT RPTV (Sony KP-57WS520). What I like about upconverting is that it smooths the picture out, making horizontal scanlines invisible. All in all, it makes the image more filmlike. This is the main advantage for me.[ This message was edited by: DaveHi on 2006-03-26 17:21 ] |

| First 650 characters of this post | Let me say that the 3100ES produces an excellent image; I was just hoping for an even more excellent image with the 9100ES.In fact, the 9100ES through HDMI does NOT pass blacker than black(!). Yet, the 3100ES does. So, the 3100ES is superior in this regard. My display is an ISF calibrated CRT RPTV (Sony KP-57WS520) and produces an outstanding image in general.I an using Acoustic Research HDMI cable and Monster components. The guy at Oade claimed the 9100ES uses a different deinterlacer, but we know this isn\'t the case. Also, I dou |

| First 650 characters of this post | I have a Sony KP-57WS520 CRT RPTV. I\'m currently using the Panasonic XP-30 480p component player which is excellent. However, I want to upscale. I\'ve tried the Oppo and the Sony 975, but the XP-30 outshined them. How does the 3100ES compare? I\'m also considering the Panasonic S97.I\'ve even thought about bumping it up to an Pioneer 59Avi.How will the 3100ES compare to all of these players? I\'ve seen no formal review yet. |

| First 650 characters of this post | I have a one year old Sony KP-57WS520.I just received the Oppo DVD and while trying to use it to upscale via HDMI, the picture drops out periodically. Sometimes removing the HDMI cable and putting it back in works..only to have the picture drop out again. I\'ve tried two different cables (the oppo and Monster). These are DVI to HDMI.My ISF tech was out a few weeks ago and he tried hooking up his signal generator through the HDMI input. We used two different HDMI cables and it would not work. However, I tried two different Sony Upconverti |

| Television Troubleshooting | Sony engineers are useless | DaveHi | 3 | 2005-03-23 03:03 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I started a previous thread about a wave problem on my KP-57WS520 TV. I\'ve had three different service techs out --- no one can fix the problem. When each one of them calls Sony about it, the so-called engineers tell them that they don\'t know! The last engineer told my tech to tell me to boost my contrast 66%!! I\'m at a lost as to what to do.Sony has no solution to my problem and has shown that they really don\'t care about the matter. I\'ve thought about going to the BBB about the matter, though I\'m not sure that will help.Any suggestions |
