| Television Troubleshooting | kdf-e55a20 cutting on and off | dbowie | 3 | 2009-05-06 22:05 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I have a sony KDF-E55A20. This problem started back in October when I joined. I read some of the forums pulled out the lamp checked for dust, looked clean, put every thing back together. It cut off and on two more times and worked untill now. The tv will stay on for about 30 seconds and off about 30 seconds. When screen goes black the green light stays lit. If I turn tv off and back on right after picture goes out the green light turns red and flashes 5 times. My tv is about 3 years old. I checked the hours on the lamp. The LAMPCT was 2609. I also went to self check. Number 5 lamp driver was s |
| Television Troubleshooting | KDF-E55A20- Pink vertical lines across entire screen | mjm3sr | 13 | 2008-12-03 22:21 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Hi, newly registered but have been a fan of this forum for quite some time. I was given a Sony KDF-E55A20 TV by a friend the other night because it was diagnosed with a bad optical block and he chose to replace the TV instead of repair it. In order to transport it I had to lay it face down when I moved it from his home to mine. After I got it home, I up righted it, plugged it in and it played perfectly all day. However, when I turned it back on later that night, the screen was filled with green vertical lines about a half inch wide and all across the TV screen which was the original diagnosis |
| Television Troubleshooting | Help! Urgent! | PunkerSlut | 3 | 2008-08-22 23:22 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I hate to sound like a jerk, but I need help really quickly. Sorry about the urgency, but tomorrow, in exactly eleven hours, my boss is giving me one of two TV's. Both of which have defects, but I don't know which to choose. And if I show up late to pick 'em up, he's giving 'em to someone else! I work in a restaraunt, and the bar section has giant TV's that are on about 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. The parts in them have been undergoing replacement for 3 years now, I believe. I don't watch too much TV much anymore, due to drastic lifestyle changes, so I'm afraid I don |

| First 650 characters of this post | drog,In short, no. There is not the burn-in issue with the LCD screen of your KDF-E55A20 like you might experience with a plasma screen. Playing your X-Box on the TV doesn\'t use up any more of the lamp than watching TV broadcasts or watching a DVD. Joe |

| First 650 characters of this post | On my Sony KDF-E55A20 the problem is while watching t.v it like turns off by itself, no screen or sound, then in about 30 seconds it comes back on. While this is happening there are NO flashes of any red lights or any green lights, just the power light (green) stays lit. I also noticed that I don't hear the fan like I did before. What Can I do to fix this? |

| First 650 characters of this post | I hope someone here can help!I have a KDF-E55A20 purchased in the U.S., but now I live in Germany where PAL is the only video format from satellite receivers. I purchased a PAL to NTSC converter and get good color and picture, but it rapidly scrolls down the screen. The set is powered through a power step down transformer (220 50Hz down to 110 50Hz). I can watch DVD and VHS with no problems. The PAL to NTSC coverter states that if the picture scrolls, then adjust the TV vertical frequency settings. I have searched the Wega Gate menu options a |

| First 650 characters of this post | I took the back of my Sony Wega 55\" Grand Wega (KDF-E55A20) today and was able to take the big exhaust fan off and clean it completely. It was really dirty! I noticed there is another fan above the left side near all the circuit boards and power supply area, that you cannot remove w/o disassembling the whole thing. I was able to clean that partially, that was really dirty as well. There is a 3rd fan, similar to that of a video card on a computer, that sits above the larger fan face down. There is a small opening you can shine a flashlight in, and the blades are r |

| First 650 characters of this post | I have a sony kdf-e55a20, and just today the screen will not turn on. The power indicator light will flash normally then it will turn red and flash in 6-flash intervals. I went through the manual and it only mentions the 3-flash intervals. I took out the lamp anyway, made sure the lamp cover was on securely, even tried a little dusting. Any ideas on what this might be?
P.S. I am in my 14th month of owning this thing, how convenient! |
| Television Troubleshooting | Calling all RPTV gurus - Lenticular question | drewski | 1 | 2007-03-07 19:39 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Due to an unfortunate accident, I find myself needing to replace the screens (yes, all 3 layers) on my 5 year old RPTV. Sony still stocks the fresnel screen, but the lenticular and protective screens are discontinued and completely unavailable.I can do without the glare screen, but I need some help on the lenticular. I purchased a lenticular from a more recent model - part 263587701 described by Sony as \"PLATE (55L), DIFFUSION\". It\'s from a KDF-E55A20.
I got the screen today, but it seems very different from the original one. The original was a thin sheet of plastic |

| First 650 characters of this post | coasterbill,Greetings and welcome. You have narrowed down your choices well, both are fantastic TV\'s. Don\'t let what you heard about the KDF-E55A20, \"the image will degrade over time\", be a factor in your choice. What was probably being discussed was that after some time the bulb that light the screen will get dim and will have to be replaced. The Sony XL-2200 replacement bulb costs approximately $200(US) but when it is replaced the display is like new again. Depending on how many hours you put on the TV this could be two or three years of normal watching. As always, go to |
