I would run the self diagnostic test which can be seen in the Frequently Asked question section. Also, are there any other visible issue that you see around the lamp area. I think this model is prone to warp door for the lamp door due to the heat. Could be the lamp driver but not entirely sure on that. I would check the lamp area.

We've had a KDF-55XS955 for many years with no issues. About a year ago, the color started being very "off" and not so bright. We adjusted the settings to no avail. | First 650 characters of this post | During the entire time I've owned my KDF-55XS955 , there has always been a screen that cycles thru when I hit "TV\video" on the remote. I know I am cycling thru the inputs but on the one screen, there is no image and a "C0000" something or another at the top right hand corner. My question stems from the fact that perhaps heat was a contributing cause to the bulb aging (only 4900 hours on it according to service menu) and that shutting down the TV completely without giving the fan a chance to run might have contributed to this. Normally, the replacement part number appears when you search for a part number at http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/index.jsp using the Part Number search. However, it no longer comes up using that search, apparently because it is now listed as an accessory for the KDF-55XS955. First the new lamp didn't make the picture as bright as I figure it would, then 4 days later the picture went out again, however the bulb still appears to be good. When you turn it on now the green light blinks till it times out with no picture then the green light turns red and the lamp light blinks red. Thanks for any help on my problem. |

This has been happening for about a month. we unplugged it and reset it... this would normally give us a few more hours of tv but now it wont stay on for more than 5 seconds. We called sony and the guy told us it might be the lamp drive. he said the lamp drive is most likely not getting enough power to the lamp. |

Usually what occurs for lamp replacement is the TV dies no video or sound after being turned on for 10 seconds to 2 minutes. But yours turns right back on after being turned off automatically which is odd. Normally after it dies, it starts a red blinking action. I think replacing the lamp will fix this issue. | First 650 characters of this post | I have the EXACT same problem as Gsquared described above. I have a KDF-55XS955, and it too turns off for 37 blinks before the picture and sound come back. Luckily, I bought the extended warranty when I purchased the T.V. in 2005.
So jehill, are you pretty confident that it is just a lamp problem instead of a thermal fuse or any other more severe problem? |
