| Television Troubleshooting | Sony KV-32S crackling/popping noises | SubEffect | 2 | 2008-01-08 21:44 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Hello.. I have a 6-7 year old KV-32S 27" Trinitron standard tube TV that has just begun to generate some soft crackling or popping noises. It occurs regardless of what's on the screen and on every input, which leads me to believe it's a CRT related issue. The sounds are accompanied with thin, horizontal and black lines across the screen. The TV has been flawless up until now. I looked inside and didn't notice any arcing, but it is very dusty. The noise is not coming from the speakers, but from somewhere i |
| Television Troubleshooting | Old School Trinitron MAJOR PROBS! | g1ng | 6 | 2006-02-22 21:57 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Hello Everybody,
I\'ve had my Sony KV-24WX1U (Trinitron Wide BE-3D) for nearly 10 years now, but recently it has developed a major fault.
It is characterised by the following problems:
1. All blacks have taken on a blue / red tint (purple).
2. There are easily visible horizontal retrace lines, but these are angled at approx 75 instead of 90 degrees.
3. When switching to WIDE / ZOOM / SMART, the picture gets gradually brighter and redder, until the screen is saturated red. After about 10 seconds, the picture disappears and flickers brighty. It is completely un |
| Television Troubleshooting | White/red lines every 1 inch when dark background? Plz help | jbrams | 5 | 2005-12-16 13:45 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Just got a 2001 sony 27\" trinitron and it\'s got a great picture HOWEVER when the image has a dark background white (or sometimes reddish) horizontal lines appear evenly spaced (about 2cm apart) across the screen (latitudinal). The lines are thin and actually don\'t reach the left side completely along the lower half.
The lines are also apparent just after turning the TV on (after the degausing phase while it\'s still all black for a moment).
I tried moving all other devices away from the TV thinking maybe a speaker or unshielded wire was interfering with the TV but there w |
| Television Configuration | KV-29LS35E Help !!! | pengus | 1 | 2005-12-09 09:36 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Ok, please help me ! I just bought a second hand kv-29ls35e trinitron tv set and the geometry is all messy. I tried to get into the service menu and change it manualy, but it seems that whoever played with it, got some real fun in there... actually i managed to obtain a square picture, but horizontal lines are somehow bended towards the top (not straight). I tried the V-Linearity to see if that helped, but it seems it doesn\'t. Is there a way to reset the set to its factory defaults so to obtain a usable picture and maybe then fine-tuning the geometry ?
Thank you a lot... |
| Television Troubleshooting | Sony Wega kv-24fv300 acting strange? | andyross | 2 | 2005-04-24 09:43 |
| First 650 characters of this post | The horizontal black lines are normal. You are just noticing them for the first time. They are wires that ago across to hold the vertical stripe-pitch wires in place. All Trinitron tubes have 2 or 3 of them.
For the VM, just keep it OFF.
The shaking sounds like a component or connection going bad from the heat. If tapping the TV has an effect, it\'s probably a connection (corrosion on a connector, bad solder joint, etc..) If not, it may be a failing component. Tracking it down would not be easy. It\'d take time and a can of cooling spray to help find it.[addsig] |
| Television Troubleshooting | Horizontal Lines on the Sony KD34XBR960 | agnos1 | 4 | 2005-02-11 11:54 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I would like anyone who owns this set to take a look at the screen from about 3-4 ft and tell me if they see up to 3 very dark and very thin horizontal lines running across the tube. On mine these lines are spaced to divide the screen into fourths and are evident regardless of source, and also after \"resetting\" the set by turning it off for awhile. It is something in the tube. The picture is great otherwise and I wouldn\'t be this picky if not for the cost which I think gives us the right to be picky.Under Sony\'s troubleshooting sight it mentions one (1) gray line on Trinitron |

| First 650 characters of this post | I have a kv-ex34 trinitron which has only drc 1250 and progressive modes. when using drc1250 I notice a lot of flicker at the top of widescreen pictures and on solid horizontal lines in the picture. This occurs even when viewing a dvd image running through component. Is this a problem or am i just describing the normal appearance of this function? My other question is will my tv be able to run a real progressive signal from a progressive dvd player and will it look any better?any help would be highly appreciated |

| First 650 characters of this post | CRT\'s have no real native resolution. Vertical resolution is basically set by how fine you can make the electron beam (or dot pitch for some non-Trinitron tubes). Horizontal resolution is set by the dot or stripe pitch. XBR910/960 and XS955 have a super-fine pitch tube that is supposed to be around 1700+ stripes (HD max is 1920x1080). As far as I know, most of the Sony HiScan CRT\'s display 1080i natively. 720p is upconverted to 1080i. On models with DRC, 480i is converted to 960i, 480p, or 480p w/ 3:2 pulldown correction. A CRT can basically display any res |

| First 650 characters of this post | Are you are talking about 3 thin, black horizontal lines, somewhat visible in very bright/white scenes and you are very close to the screen? Trinitron TV\'s use stripes, so instead of a metal grid with lots of holes, there are many fine vertical wires. To hold them in position, there are 2-3 thin wires going across. All Trinitrons, and in fact I would think any stripe-pitch picture tube, would use them. Normally, they are pretty much invisible. I only notice mine if I\'m EXTREMELY close to the TV. You should connect the TV\'s regular audio out, not the monitor out, to your |

| First 650 characters of this post | Are you sure you\'re not reffering to the lines associated with trinitron tubes, All tv\'s & monitors based on sony trinitron tubes have 1 to 3 lines depending on the size of the screen, they appear as very thin horizontal lines and are most noticable on a bright backround ..this is normal and is listed in most sony tv manuals under the Troubleshooting section. you can find more info by doing a search in google \"trinitron lines\" etc. ,heres a couple examples: http://computer.howstuff |

| First 650 characters of this post | I checked out the link that you provided. I believe that the following paragraph is in error. Instead of vertical lines, it should say horizontal lines. Doubling the number of horizontal pixels doubles what appear to be vertical lines. The DRC description in the User\'s Guide for 34XBR910, which appears to be the US equivalent of the KV-32DX150, states that the number of vertical and horizontal lines is doubled.\"To ensure maximum image detail, DRC-MF50 doubles the amount of both horizontal pixels and vertical lines, givi |

| First 650 characters of this post | Alan-Your are correct, a DSD stream is nothing but 1s and 0s. Pulse length modulation (PLM) is the waveform that results if you chart the 1s and 0s (the 100% and 0% levels on my charts). Complimentary PLM (C-PLM) is the result of offsetting the waveform so that the 0 and 1 levels correspond to the negative and positive output stage power supply voltages, respectively.I just completed creating the following charts illustrating conversion of a 10KHz sinwave to a DSD bitstream and PLM with 50%, 100% and 120% levels. | First 650 characters of this post | I have an 27\" Trinitron, about 10 yrs old. Recently I have noticed faint light green horizontal lines from top to bottom. If I tune to an empty channel which would normally appear black this is even more pronounced. I un hooked everything(PS2,DVD,VCR) then hooked cable only and the lines were gone.Is this a bad wire problem and is there an easier way to correct without buying all new cables? Thanks for you help.Tony. |

| First 650 characters of this post | I have a 15 year old 27 \" Trinitron that started acting up a year ago. Usually a few minutes after turning it on the screen loses colour intermittently and there are horizontal white lines on the screen which come and go as the TV tries to rectify itself. Each effort to fix itself is accompanied by a three beat static noise. The colour does come back after 15-20 minutes and remains steady and the audio is fine. Lately, there has been a constant low level static noise as well in addition to the above mentioned problems which had not occurred before. Is this problem related to the tuner or is t |

| First 650 characters of this post | The name Wega implies nothing more than the fact that Sony felt it was appropiate to be identified with it brand of Hi-End Flatscreen Monitors.
I fell for the \"Trinitron\" hype back in 1974, and have not turned back since. Below, is a definition as taken from an old Sony manual.
The Trinitron tube is a type of CRT (cathode ray tube) developed by Sony Corporation. It differs from the standard tube types because it employs an aperture grille (wires stretched vertically down the screen) instead of the usual shadow mask (a metal plate with holes in it).

| Television Misc and News | SONY TRINITRON - The faint vertical line up 1/4 of the screen ... explained > | sony4me | 1 | 2002-11-26 02:26 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Has anyone ever notices the faint dark line of a Sony CRT Trinitron screen on a Sony CRT TV or PC screen? It\'s most visible when the CRT is at it\'s brightest \"white\" level.
Well here\'s the answer for all you who are wondering about that line....
Enjoy.
Why does my monitor have 1 or 2 or 3 faint horizontal lines on it?
Your monitor likely uses a Sony Trinitron picture tube. Trinitron 1 tubes can be recognized because they are curved only in the horizontal plane, but are flat vertically. Typically, the number of lines seen depends on the monitor size:

| Television Troubleshooting | 5 yr old Trinitron has lost picture, has sound | gojuka | 5 | 2002-11-18 18:42 |
| First 650 characters of this post | My 27\" Trinitron has just gone boom (not literally). It is a KV27S22 (or maybe KV27V22). When I turn it on, there is usually no picture, but sound. Sometimes there is a picture, but it degrades with horizontal black lines, and the picture \"shrinks\" slowly upwards towards the top of the CRT until it disappears completely.
Checked all the cables, took out intervening parts (VCR etc) but still no joy.
Any ideas? |

I haven\'t actually fiddled around with this yet, but I\'m starting to wonder if it\'s the same problem as described in the tweak. The Tweak is here under Wega uneven brightness fix, but again use caution and write down all your settings and follow standard care when messing around the service menu!
