| Television Troubleshooting | KD32DX40U Five Flashes | Colin_C | 7 | 2008-12-10 13:29 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I'm pretty sure I've fixed it, so I thought I'd just post an update for information.Took the back off the set and spent some time brushing and vacuuming the accumulated dust off the back of the TV ... where does it all come from?Turned the contrast and brightness right down and realised that I could see faint slightly diagonal lines on the dark grey screen.Made a note of the start positions for the screws on the focus and screen adjustors.Started turning the screen adjuster clockwise. After a small movement, TV shut down.Turned the sc |

| First 650 characters of this post | I know that some have asked for reviews on the KDL-46Z4100.Below is the reviewThe good: Accurate primary colors and color decoding; reproduces relatively deep black levels; solid dejudder processing; sleek styling with compact cabinet; plenty of connectivity with four HDMI and one PC input; can access music and photos over the home network. The bad: Occasional backlight fluctuation in dark areas; less accurate color decoding; network streaming excludes video files. |
| Television Configuration | Sony KV-32fs320 owners, new tweak | shpankey | 6 | 2008-03-16 23:50 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I just stumbled upon this amazing tweak in the service menu, the manual says it is "AKB Mode" whatever that is. Anyhow, it's in the AXIS menu under AKBM. The default is 0, but when I set it to 1 my colors became warm and natural and the whole picture lost the bright blue tinge. Quite amazing imo. I googled it and didn't find any other mention of it in any "tweaks" websites or forum pages. |
| Television Troubleshooting | KV-32HS500 Blink Code 5 | stinkindiesel | 4 | 2007-01-12 09:07 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Posted this earlier but typoed the subject. I couldn\'t find any other way to correct it...I\'ve got a KV-32HS500 here that shows a purple-tinged picture, and it looks as though the red and blue colors are not aligned ( there\'s no green at all, thus the purple appearance). It does this regardless of video source.I\'m getting blink code 5, indicating a \"White Balance Failure.\" I would normally suspect the video drivers on the CH board, but I\'ve swapped in a known good CH board to confirm that\'s not the problem. The other possible culprit listed in the service manual is the |

| Television Troubleshooting | KP-57HW40, 8 blinks | V878 | 3 | 2006-10-21 03:21 |
| First 650 characters of this post | After owning the KP-57HW40 for over 4 years, it decided to give out randomly last week while watching a movie. Now when I turn it on, the screen has a strong blue tinge to it before the TV shuts itself off automatically after a few seconds. I counted there are 8 blinks on the Standby LED and I also did a self-diagnostic test on the TV which returned 1\'s for BOTH AKB AND HV.
A repairman is coming over next week but with this conveniently occuring AFTER our 3 year warranty expired, I\'m afraid this is going to be quite costly to fix. Does anyone how much I should expec |
| Television Misc and News | 34XBR960 and how I have improved picture quality | joekingsj | 8 | 2004-12-15 20:09 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I am extremely comfortable with the Sony service menu and I have owned many different Sony XBR HD sets and I plan on putting a before and after pic up prior and after performing my tweaks. I would only recommend that people take my adjustments as a suggestion and not attempt them if they are not also familiar with the service menu.Extreme tweaking to the 34XBR960VIVID mode (this mode is the best because the sets internal circuitry is tuned to my liking and u can get a very bright and clear image without edge enhancement if you know what you are doing) |
| Television Configuration | just had an isf calibration of tv | ikeb | 3 | 2004-02-27 11:56 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I have a sony 36xbr250 and finally had it calibrated becaue i am going to keep it - (not enough hd available). So far, i only like some of the calibrtion. Fixing the gemoetry is great (sharpness is perfect) - fixing the colors to 6500 kelvin is great, but the overall picture is way to dark - proper calibration makes the picture dull (whites are more grey than white) - i am not used to it - so i have turned up the \"picture\" to make the set brighter - and made the whites have a tinge of blue. has anyone else had this same \"problems\" after calibration. |
| Television Configuration | RGB input adjustment with KV-28LS60U ? | tiptoe | 2 | 2004-02-14 18:11 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Hello everyone. I haven\'t posted before, but have been reading some old threads and this seems like a great place!
I have a SONY KV-28LS60U. This is a european model that does PAL and SECAM at 100Hz (by repeating fields AABB), and also supports NTSC (I don\'t know whether it displays NTSC at 120Hz, or somehow gets it down to 100). In general I\'m pretty happy with it (although I think it has a just barely-perceptible alignment problem, which means that on a completely white screen there is an ever-so-faint yellow tinge at the extreme left, and an ever fainter blue tinge at the extrem |
| Television Troubleshooting | Sony KV36FS76U blue tinge problem | Stv777 | 1 | 2004-02-14 12:41 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Has anyone had this problem? I have a Sony KV36FS76U. I\'m really impressed with it but...there is a small tint of pale blue in the top right-had corner of the screen. At a glance I don\'t always see it, but I know it\'s there and my eyes are drawn to it. Can anyone help with some advice?
Okay...this is an update...if I move the tv the tinge gets worse or better (almost unnoticeable) depending where it is...weird or what?
Furhter update...I\'ve moved the sub-woofer from behind the tv and...the tinge has gone...or if it\'s there I can\'t see it. Sometimes I think I can |

| First 650 characters of this post | I found this on another Fourm: UMR Does GWIII XBR & WE (Updated to include WE)
It appears most of the adjustments for these two sets are nearly the same.I finally have some useful information to post. This afternoon/evening I spent about 4 hours tweaking bigscreentv\'s KF-60XBR950. I was able to improve the resolution, gray scale and color decoder in his set. Generally, I would say the GWIII XBR can look very close to a fully tweaked GWII XBR. The bright 60\ |

| First 650 characters of this post | I\'ve had a UK-PAL KD-32DX150 (AE6C chassis) for a few weeks. It\'s a nice TV (also has DTT). I\'ve noticed the following - comments are welcome.
Shadowing
----------
- When set to \"personal\" with brightness etc similar to \"movie\" there is quite a noticeable black shadow to the right of objects - this is noticeable on Sony DVD, Sky+ (both RGB) and the integrated DTT tuner, for example when showing BBC News 24 DTT Text, words like \"NEWS\" show this. Switching to movie makes this less pronounced, but it\'s still there
This also makes the Sky EPG look quite blocky ( |

| Television Troubleshooting | Verical band, right side of screen, am I nuts?? | sbarnhar | 5 | 2002-10-16 15:07 |
| First 650 characters of this post | No, you aren\'t nuts. I have this on my 40XBR800 also (but it is on the left side). However, my wife thinks I am nuts for worrying/obsessing about it!
I also have another problem, which is that the upper right-hand corner of the TV is tinged blue - very noticeable on an all-white screen such daylight scenes or white test patterns. However, on \"normal\" scenes it is not noticeable. Anyone else have a problem like this?[ This message was edited by: sbarnhar on 2002-10-16 15:08 ] |
