| Computers Troubleshooting | PCG-Z1WAP hard drive failure. PLEASE HELP! | jttar | 2 | 2008-03-11 21:53 |
| First 650 characters of this post | dylehein,Greetings and welcome. I could not find a tutorial for replacement of the hard drive for your PCG-Z1WAP but give THIS site a look. The procedure should be very similar to what you need to do.It is not a hard process but make sure you keep all the screws for each piece seperate as they are commonly different lengths. If it helps for re-assembly, take pictures to refresh your memory. Let us know how it goes. Joe |

| Computers Troubleshooting | Sony Laptop Problem!! | AmateurPC | 4 | 2006-08-05 23:11 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Hello all, I am new to the forum and a very begginer PC enthusiast. I purchased a Sony laptop (model# PCG-FX390P) from a friend $50. Battery sucks but other than that no problems. Until today I had 2 512MB sticks of memory to put in it (I do not know if they are PC100 or 133).I removed the stick of 256MB that was in it (inside larger of the 2 black panels on the bottom of the machine) I then installed the 2 new sticks. I restarted the machine and I had no screen not even the Sony at start up. So I RnR\'ed the Memory (back to the original) No Change! It seems like all the usual start |

| First 650 characters of this post | I bought a Sony Vaio PCG K25. My little sis dumped apple jusice on it. I opened it up and cleaned out everything and it worked fine for about 3 months but the monitor started flickering but when i hook up another monitor it worked fine. Except that once in a while it had memory dump. I lost my temper the other day and hit the laptop and now the monitor works fine but it ceases up a lot. Does it mean that my motherboard is bad. Is there any hope of repairing it??

| First 650 characters of this post | i have an older, lightweight, vaio (pcg z505le) that crashed and before i turn it back in to the repair guys, i wanted to ask if anyone had any other ideas. it will not run the recovery cd (it has that as it\'s first boot up option). after i turn it on, the sony logo appears on the screen, and then just black screen. if i hit f2 a bunch of times while it\'s starting, it will bring me to the start-up/set-up screens, where i\'ve restored all the defaults and saved/exited. i had the hard drive replaced and that didn\'t work. i tried to load windows xp (it\'s current os is ME).&n |

| Computers Installation | Built-in Memory Stick Reader on Vaio PCG-GR290K | kniaz | 2 | 2005-02-13 13:42 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Hi,I just did a clean install of Windows XP on PCG-GR290K. Everything works as it is supposed to, except for the built-in Memory Stick reader. Contacting Sony support, they said that they do have the driver for it, but will not give it to me and I have 2 options - either contact Microsoft for the driver (?!) or go back to recovery disks, install 2k, then upgrade to XP. So does anyone else out there have these drivers? |

| First 650 characters of this post | Good news, the new memory seems to be working fine!!! No flash required.I found a \"Crucial\" brand 256mb card that closely resembled the one recommended on their site for my specific computer and it was half the cost, and seems to be working well so far. Sony was no help...they wont stick their necks out in case it doesn\'t work...understandable. Crucial also wouldn\'t recommend anything other than those lited in their \"Memory Advisor\", or even say if it would work.Here\'s the spec\'s:Crucial recommends for the PCG FX170: part#CT200676 which |

| First 650 characters of this post | Hi guys, I\'m having problems with my PCG-GRZ660 Sony Vaio Laptop. This Laptop came with 512MB on memory and last week I notice that lately it was very slow so I checked the memory and it was 256MB. I opened the memory slots and I try taking out one module and then the other to see if one of those 256MB modules were wrong but they were fine. I mean when I took one out the laptop shows 256MB for memory, then I try the other one and it was the same result. Does anybody have an idea of how |

However, according to the computer specifications for my laptop from Sony\'s web site at http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/specs/notebooks/pcgnvr23_Specs.htm, I can have a maximum of 1 GB. My question is this: how do I determine the maximum amount of memory my laptop can truthfully hold, preferrably withou |

| First 650 characters of this post | I bought a Sony PCG-FXA32 about 2 years ago and I love it. It is been very reliable and reasonably tough. I\'ve never had any mechanical problems with the hardware and I carry it around in a backpack every time I travel. It is a great tool to dump pictures into from your digital camera when traveling. The DVD software that came with it wouldn\'t read some DVDs but I upgraded the software and it works great now. Also about 6 months back, I got a virus in it that I couldn\'t remove. I was able to restore the notebook from the restore CD pretty easy. So t |
