| Television Troubleshooting | Sony KV34HS420 turning off by itself | nitejones | 3 | 2009-11-07 11:37 |
| First 650 characters of this post | We purchased a Sony Wega KV-34HS420 4 years ago, with an extended warranty. Recently, it began turning off by itself. There's a loud click, no picture or sound, there are multiple blinks (5, maybe?) and then it either turns back on with full picture and sound or clicks over and over before turning off. If I wait a minute and turn it back on, it does turn on. Then it goes through the entire process again. It will do this repeatedly for about 15-20 minutes and then it'll work for a few hours straight without any problem. &n |
| Television Troubleshooting | Sony KV-34HS420 / G2 focus lead ? | Scott39 | 1 | 2008-07-02 10:39 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I just recently repaired my sony KV-34HS420, by replacing the IC8002 and IC6501 chips, thanks to the information I read on your forum. The TV works fine now, except the screen size adjustment. I desolder the G2 Focus Lead (blue wire) to get the D-Board out. I resolder the G2 wire back, but now im not able to change (screen size). I'm going to resolder. But my question is do I need to discharge the tube again since I don't neet to remove the C-Board. </font& |

| First 650 characters of this post | this all started about 2 months ago, TV would not turn on and I noticed the power lcd blinking 6 times, so, I called sony and they told me to do a hard reset, unplug for atleast 4 hours and try again. This worked and the TV came on right away. We left the TV on and just turned off the sat box. Well, kids shut it off and it would not come back on, tried the hard reset again but it didn't work. So i just watched another tv and gave up on the kv-34hs420. | Television Troubleshooting | Sony KV-34HS420 pixelating | saar | 1 | 2007-05-22 17:39 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Hi, had a quick question.
I have a Sony KV-34HS420 and when watching HD movies / shows with explosions or characters running quickly on screen, the image pixelates pretty bad. No one else really notices (or doesn\'t say anything), but I do and it drives me nuts.
Is there any way to correct this problem through the video menu (ie: vivd, pro, etc) or is just something I have to put up with?
Oh, if it matters, the TV is connected to a Motorola DCT6412 III using a HDMI cable.
Thanks for any help... |

| Television Troubleshooting | Sony screen issue - Kind of urgent - Please help | Kestak | 4 | 2005-12-10 05:42 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Greetings,I have a KV-34HS420 bought 13 months ago (1 month after the warranty now!!!!!) and I noticed when the screen is totally blue there are 2 1/4 of faded yellow circles on the right side. I thought it was only that connection, I then verified with the other channels. Same issue, but less visible and tdifferent colors. When the screen is playing, I see there is like a discoloration at the place of those circles. Is it possible a \"color beam\" is not doing its job at that place?Whatever I use any channel, composite, component or coaxial, I see those 1/4 of circles. |
| Getting Started/Building a Home Theater | Surge Protector? | ellen | 5 | 2005-11-30 15:39 |
| First 650 characters of this post | My Dad just bought the KV-34HS420 TV and when he called Sony to ask a setup question, they told him not to use a surge protector and to plug the TV directly into the wall. Does that make sense? His setup includes the TV, a DISH satellite receiver, audio receiver, DVD player. I had suggested he get a basic surge protector (not the special home theater ones) - I have a Sony TV that\'s about 2 years old and use one of the basic Kensington protectors. Thanks. |

| First 650 characters of this post | Hey guys... I\'ve had my kv-34hs420 for a little less than a year now, and it occasionally just shuts down. No warning, just shuts down. I have noticed that the \"standby-timer\" red light then flashes in a pattern. Thinking there was some \"code\" to this I googled the subject and sure enough, there is a set of error codes built in though the standby-timer l.e.d. Anyway, after ours shuts down, it flashes 7 times, then pauses before flashing another 7 times... and so on. Any idea what this means??? I called SONY, they gave me the 2 local service centers, |

| First 650 characters of this post | Welcome to Agoraquest! There are two different KV-34HS420 service manuals, depending on the serial number. Provide me with the serial number on the nameplate on the rear and I\'ll tell you how to purchase the service manual from Sony. Meanwhile, I am pretty sure that the adjustments you need to make are CXA2170D-1 05 V-CEN and CXA2170D-1 06 V-PIN. These are pincushion adjustments. With a cross hatch pattern and in the NORMAL mode, adjust V-CEN and V-PIN so that the top pin and bottom pin are symmetrical from top to bottom. Horizonta |

| Television Troubleshooting | Sony Authorized Service Center Question | HustlerOne | 2 | 2005-04-14 23:05 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Hey everyone, had a question and was wondering if anyone could give me a clue about getting my tv serviced. I attempted to fix the lack of linearity on my KV-34HS420 as the bottom part of the screen became decidedly bent. However, tinkering a bit too much had left me with an NVM reset which basically left EVERYTHING in shambles, beyond the scope of my abilities to fix. So if I call an authorized Sony Tech, will they be able to restore the TV to original functionality (i.e. correct Normal mode 4:3 with centering) as well as proper Wide Zoom, and HDTV (my component video doesnt work either an |

| First 650 characters of this post | The March \'05 issue of Consumer Reports has a review of many big-screen TV\'s.
Except for one category, Sony topped EVERYHING.
The one exception was \'microdisplay sets\' (rear projection LCD/DLP/LCoS). The only Sony they tested in this category was the 50WE655. I think if they\'d tested the WF or XS, it would have topped the charts.
1) Samsung HL-P5085W (a DLP set, as were the top 3)
11) KDF-50WE655 (LCD)
CRT rear-projection:
1) KP-51WS520
2) KP-57WS520
Plasma HD:
1) KDE-42XS955

| Television Configuration | Forced to exchange a KV34HS510 for a 34HS420 am I being ripped off ??? | jttar | 5 | 2005-02-02 22:21 |
| First 650 characters of this post | rodelu,It\'s understandable that you are upset after having so much trouble with your KV-34HS510. Your place of purchase is probably offering the KV-34HS420 because it is comparable in price to the HS510. The phone rep is correct in stating that the extended warranty contract was fufilled but considering that this TV was a lemmon and was in the shop 3 times I would feel that the extended warranty should at least roll over to your new set. Of course what I feel is fair doesn\'t mean that it\'s going to happen but I would talk to however many people that I needed to at Sony or your |

| First 650 characters of this post | Hello, I recently exchanged a Panasonic I purchased for an out-of-the-box Sony KV-34HS420. I tuned the picture for this TV (using DVE) and the picture was great. Unfortunately I had to return it due to some lines on the screen. I got the same TV new and am noticing the picture isn\'t as good after I calibrate it. The biggest thing I notice is that the brightness settings don\'t calibrate well. I recall from the other TV that when I set the black level again the high light level pleuge I could still still see the black bars. However, with the new set, I can turn the brightness all th |

| First 650 characters of this post | Welcome to Agoraquest! There is no question about it! CRTs provide the best possible picture. The downside is the weight. I would get a 34\" widescreen CRT TV such as the Sony KV-34HS420, KD-34XS955 or KD-34XBR960 (progressively higher priced). The last two have built-in HD TV tuners, cable card slots and 65% greater horizontal resolution. The last model also features i.LINK ports for connection to a D-VHS recorder, the only recorder presently available to record HD TV on removeable media (tape, in this case).[addsig] |
