| Television Troubleshooting | Sony KV-40XBR800, help to bring this gorgeous lady to life! | jehill | 7 | 2013-05-20 13:39 |

I checked the MCZ3001D schematic and determined that pins 8 and 9 are NOT connected internally. The KV40XBR800 service manual voltage chart shows 17.9V on pin 8 and 0.0v on pin 9 for both IC6501 and IC8002. My conclusion is that something is wrong if you are seeing a short circuit between the two pins. The soldering looks great now except for IC8002 pins 2 and 11. |
| Television Troubleshooting | TV will not power ON. | jehill | 13 | 2013-02-16 11:59 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Thanks for the correct model number. As I suspected, there are two MCZ3001DB chips on the D board, IC6400 and IC8002. Operation of IC6400 is required in order to produce the high voltage required for the three picture tubes. Numerous members have restored operation of their sets by replacing the MCZ3001DB chips. It is recommended that IC sockets be installed rather than soldering the chips in directly. Try using the Agoraquest search engine at the bottom of the Forums page to search for "MCZ3001DB chips". Search You Tube for "MCZ3001DB chips" and you will find som |
| Television Troubleshooting | Sony FD Trinitron Wega KV-36XBR400: Sound, but No Picture | WillH | 9 | 2013-02-03 17:30 |
| First 650 characters of this post | All - Well, I now have my new MCZ3001DB chips and sockets, and I have opened up my TV and removed the D board. When I look at the IC8002 and IC6501 locations, I see all 18 pins are soldered to the board. In all the posts I've read so far, pins 13 and 17 weren't soldered at those IC locations. Any advice? I assume I should solder all 18 locations when I replace the MCZ chips with sockets, but that seems contrary to everyone else's experience I've read about. Thanks for any help or insight you can provide! |

| Television Troubleshooting | sonyA1054157A G board | mbt_junkyard | 6 | 2012-10-06 07:53 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I downloaded the service manual and in the block diagrams and the schematic diagrams I see a G-board which contains the mains rectifier, the mains smoothing capacitors and the standby power supply. On this board is also relay RY6000, which switches all electronics on or off, except for the standby power supply. On the D-board there is the main power supply and the HOP supply, the power supply of the flyback transformer. However, when I look at the board layout for the G-board, I see much more components on it. Maybe they have used a kind of "universal" board and are the |

| First 650 characters of this post | Welcome to Agoraquest! When you refer to the Audio, board I assume that you are referring to the A board. In addition to the AUDIO OUTPUT, the A board includes, SYSTEM CONTROL, CRT DRIVE, TUNER, 3D COMB and AREG. These are pretty important functions. Its possible that corrosion on the A board is the source of your problem. However, the MCZ3001D driver, IC6003 on the G board, frequently fails, not just in this set, but in numerous models that utilize this chip. Numerous members have successfully restored operation by replacing these c |

| First 650 characters of this post | Welcome to Agoraquest! Unfortunately, the information contained in the service manual is geared to a qualified service technician trained to determine which of the components listed MAY be bad.By far, the most common problem with the KV-36XBR450 is failure of IC6501 (MCZ3001D) or IC8002 (MCZ3001D) on the D board. Much has been written about replacement of these chips on this forum. The issue was first identified in the "D board circuit failures/KV32HS420. KV32XBR400, KV32XBR450, KV36HS420, KV36XBR400, KV36XBR450" information package. Use the Agoraquest search engine at the b |
| Television Troubleshooting | SONY KV36HQ100B WON'T RETAIN SETTINGS OR TURN ON PROPERLY | mbt_junkyard | 7 | 2012-05-28 16:58 |
| First 650 characters of this post | So if I read your posts right, you have now a perfect working set which only problem is that is has difficulties to start up?If that's right, I think that the first suspect is IC6100 on the G-board. This is a MCZ3001D power supply controller which is famous for startup problems in other sets. This IC is replaced by the improved type MCZ3001DB. If you order one, be sure to order it in the DIL package, not the SMT variant.Best regards. |
