Oh come on, man... This is a sophisticated electronics site (at least in my eyes). The last thing it needs is an independent-console fanboy. And PS2 has much better (and more) Japanese games than Xbox, which is a major plus.
Btw, I have Xbox (and not PS2, unfortunately), and even I know that PS2 is better.

Let's not turn this into a console war thread. XBOX and PS2 are both very good consoles. Is the XBOX a more powerful machine than PS2? Of course it is. It's a year newer than PS2 and has better technology. Does the XBOX blow away the PS2 in every respect. Not even close. While the XBOX does have slightly, and I stress slightly, better visuals and audio than that of PS2, XBOX can't even come close(at the moment) to having the must have games the PS2 has. I'm not saying the XBOX is a bad system, as it does have some pretty sweet games for it. BUT, PS2 just has so many more superior games exclusive for it. With Splinter Cell now coming out on all consoles, must have exclusive XBOX games are getting fewer and fewer.

Thank you all for such a funny thread!
I agree, and I couldn't have said it better myself, dschroll.
As for the systems, I have the luxury of owning both, each connected to its own XBR. However, the XBox is connected to the 40-incher.

Neither of 3 systems are better than the other. It just comes down to which games the player prefers to play so please don't run around saying the xbox rules or ps2 rules or gamecube rules.

Is there anyone here who is a military/war/action and racing(any) type game fan who can steer me toward the purchase of an xbox? I ended up getting the PS2(since there seem to be more racing/action games) but I still have about 15 days to re-make a decision. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

The main reason I like the ps2 is that it has a good selection rpgs like Final Fantasy and XenoSaga, plus it plays all my old PS1 games I havent finished yet.

Honestly, I have played each except the game cube and I would get the Xbox if I was in the market. Please don't start getting pissed, I am not stirring the pot. I love Sony stuff hell I just got a Sony HDTV, but I think the xbox has more features to offer. I know that PS2 has more games, but all around the Xbox is a better machine. IMHO and you know what they say about opinions! LoL

I have all 3 systems...there are great games on each, but only a blind man could say the PS2 graphics, where most games don't run in 480p, can compete w/ the Xbox, where everything runs in 480p. Now, whether or not the game programmers take the time to put in the extra stuff that only Xbox can do, is another story. Even the PS2 games that do support 480p don't look that great compared to most Xbox games, imho.
If you don't have a hi def TV, then you probably won't see the difference...but trust me, on a 55" hi def TV, the difference between the systems graphically is VERY noticable.
EA is probably the worst offender in taking the lazy way out, so most of their stuff looks about the same on either system...but look at a game like Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox, and tell me 1 PS2 game that even comes close to that in the graphics dept.
If you read many game reviews, you'll usually see the reviewer mention the Xbox version looks the best.
I play the PS2 a lot, for the kind of games Xbox doesn't have, like Yu Gi Oh, Culdcept, Ace Combat, etc...but there is no question, at least to me, which machine has better graphics: Xbox, hands down, then Gamecube, THEN PS2. Hey, don't kill the messenger lol.

madddog67- I am a big Sony fan, I buy all Sony stuff from TVs to receivers to clock radios you name it. But unfortunately the XBOX is better all the way around IMO as well. I anxiously look forward to the release of the XBOX 2 and the PS3. Hopefully the PS3 will be something special.

I too like Sony products. I have Sony products from TVs, DVDs, VCRs, and Cameras. But when it came to buying a game console, it was XBox hands down. Hopefully the PS3 will change that. (I doubt it )

Whiskey_996- X-Box has some really good racing games like Project Gotham Racing 2, RalliSport Challange 2 and Toca Race Driver 2 among others. Forza Motorsports looks incredible and should be out early 05.
I have both systems and like them both but there is no doubt that the X-Box is far better both sonically and visually.
X-Box does have some great exclusive titles. Halo and Halo 2 being just two examples.
Which system has the games that you really want to play is what's most important. ----------------- rb

The Xbox is definitely better graphically even on a 32" interlaced trinitron.Sonically all games are DD 5.1 and not all ps2 games are. Xbox also does not need memory cards out of the box. The real bad part for for me is that ps2 has way more games and better ones in my opinion.

Maybe, maybe not. The X-Box employs a bit more traditional hardware design in its architecture while the PS-2 is designed in such a way that programmers may discover capabilities of the console that its designers and opponents didn't think was possible, such as non-latency realtime DTS sound (up to 5.1).
But, what really matters are the games. There have been great games on the X-Box, PlayStation 2, and the GameCube, with many titles exclusive to their consoles only. Limiting your gaming pallette to only those available on whatever console is most powerful is very much like limiting your moviegoing experience to a specific genre. If you discount all the others, then you really won't know what you're missing.
If you play only X-Box, you're missing out on games like "Final Fantasy X" and "Super Mario Sunshine." If you play only PlayStation 2, you're missing out on games like "Metroid Prime" and "Halo 2." If you only play GameCube, you're missing out on games like "Ninja Gaiden" and "Metal Gear Solid 3." - Reinhart
