I am using cable for the most part but I do watch netflix as well .

In Queens New York I used Time Warner cable my whole life since it became available in the mid 80's.Before that it was a top of set analog antenna.Now here In Pedro Leopoldo,Brazil there is no cable so I'm using Sky HD sattelitte TV.It's owned by Dish Network.

Cable is still my main source for televison viewing, but the internet is being used alot more now days. I've actually disconected the cable going to my TV/Tuner card on my PC.

My cable bill is killing me as it is, so I'v been sticking with the free internet channels. Hulu is my favorite, especially since they are broadcasting in HD, but YouTube has been making a pretty good showing. Some of the more less known channels on the internet are TV Land, In2TV, Comedy Central, Justin.tv, and if you like free full length movies try Joox.net.

I know what you mean about the cable bill. I have been a DirecTV customer for years. For my internet I am using Comcast and my land Line (yes, I still have one. Wife's decision.) I had AT&T. I recently dropped them all and switched to Xfinity's triple play which give me all three on a one year teaser rate. As there is no contract after a year I can shop around or re-negotiate a new plan.

Hi dragon53,
Using rabbit ears do you pull in all your local channels? Besides having cable I also have an OTA antenna that I used when the satellite signal failed during a storm. So far cable has not failed me me but I like to know that if all else fails I still can use my trusty old over the air antenna

I'm using a rabbit ears antenna from Radio Shack that cost about $5 in 1991 and it does fairly well. I use my LCD to watch dvds and rarely for watching local tv programming. When I use the rabbit ears for watching local stations, there's an occasional interruption in signal mainly because the antenna is place roughly two feet high on a table next to the LCD. If I had the rabbit ears placed higher and took the time to tune it properly, it probably would be excellent in receiving local HD broadcasts.

When the repairmen sent by Sony for my LCD saw my el cheapo, Radio Shack rabbit ears antenna, he said when he was in other people's homing repairing LCDs, he was surprised to see most people had expensive, amplified HD antennas that would deliver reception just like my rabbit ears.

You must live close enough to the towers in Houston to be able to pick up your local channels with only rabbit ears. I'm about 12 miles from the towers in downtown Chicago and I tried rabbit ears but it was really hit or miss if the signal was there, lots of pixel break up and/or no signal. I ended up with a Radio Shack outdoor antenna that pulls in all the local digital channels and the HD programs has a better picture then my local cable company.
