    UPDATE:

GRAN TOURINO---the new Clint Eastwood movie is not DIRTY HARRY 6 as hadbeen rumored. Instead, the comedy film is about a grandfather who takesa young Asian boy under his wing after the boy tried to steal hisbeloved 1972 Ford Gran Torino. Eastwood is the director, and it is notknown yet if Eastwood will star as the grandfather.

From my post on other boards:

DIRTY HARRY---rumors are that Clint Eastwood's latest movie, GRAN TORINO, will be the latest in his DIRTY HARRY/Harry Callahan series. One source denied the rumor and said GRAN TORINO is"a simple, quiet and compelling drama about Walt (Eastwood), a rural bigot who finds his outlook on life changed after a family of Hmong immigrants move in to the home next to his own, striking up a friendship with the family's teenaged son Tao over the older man's now-classic car." However, one source at Eastwood's production company, Malpaso, said the DIRTY HARRY rumor is true.

    Thanks for the news dragon53.

I guess we shouldn't be suprised at the return of Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry Callahan. What the heck, Sylvester Stallone came back with "Rocky" and "Rambo", Bruce Willis has made another "Die Hard" and it is reported that Harrison Ford has one more "Indiana Jones" in the making. I'm beginning to see a pattern here!

Stallone has signed up for yet another sequel each to Rocky and Rambo. That HGH works wonders.

    dragon53,

Thanks for the warning! I have not yet seen Rambo but I did suffer through Rocky. I thought that he did Rocky to put an end to the saga. Still, I will have to give them a watch when they come out.

Thank goodness for    making Sly the man he is.

I thought Rocky was just OK, not that bad, but should have been better. I think Sly should leave directing to professionals and should just do his own job. Oh, did you watch the alternate ending, I always hate alternate endings.

    MAVERICK11359:

I saw IN THE LINE OF FIRE for the first time in many years---and you're right, the movie has a song with a tune similar to Diana Krall's theme, "Why Should I Care", for Eastwood's TRUE CRIME. I guess Eastwood, et al. decided to rework the original, add lyrics and use it for TRUE CRIME.

Also, in IN THE LINE OF FIRE, a key scene shows a telephone number---the telephone number is Sony's number. The movie is from Sony Pictures.

    G'day dragon and Joe,
I actually had time this week to watch three Clint Eastwood borrowed movies.Wednesday night I watched  IN THE LINE OF FIRE  and yes dragon I agree Clint's tune is the prerunner to "Why Should I Care " ,next night I then watched "THE ROOKIE" followed by TRUE CRIME with "Why Should I Care"by Diana played at the movies ending...Thanks Dragon for the inspiration ,I forgot how good Clint's movies are, also pleasantly forgot their storie lines ,it's  been so long since i saw them last and I can't remember ever seeing TRUE CRIMES before...Looks like I might be on the borrow again and watch Clint's Dirty Harry movies next week when i get the chance.

P.S Joe's right its hard to get a few minutes to get on the net ,I personally have alot going on at present and my daughters hog the computer the most of the time ,all afternoon and into the night .

    MAVERICK:

Speaking of Clint Eastwood and DIRTY HARRY, here's my post from another message board about Eastwood:

    THURSDAY, MAY 22

CAPTAIN AMERICA, RUNAWAYS---Marvel Studiospresident Kevin Feige said the THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA willbe set in World War II and dismissed the Matthew McConaughey rumorsthat he will star in the movie which premiers on  May 6, 2011. Feigeadded that IRON MAN 2 will premier on April 30, 2010 and THOR on July4, 2010. Also, RUNAWAYS is a Marvel Studios movie underway based on thecomic book about teenagers who discover their parents are supervillainsand run away from home. They use their own super powers to overcome themisdeeds done by their parents.

THE LAST EQUATION---a movieunderway based on the Stuart Gibbs novel about Albert Einstein's lastequation, Pandora, which could solve the world energy crisis. Einsteinhid the formula because it could also allow anyone to easily developnuclear weapons. The government enlists the help of a criminal andmathematics genius to find Pandora before villains find it.

CLINT EASTWOOD---at the Cannes Film Festival,  Eastwood replied to the rumored DIRTY HARRY 6 sequel, "That is not correct...Dirty Harry would not be on the police department at my age, so we'll move on from that."Also at Cannes, Spike Lee unleashed a "bitter attack" on Eastwood for not using black soldiers in his war movies, FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS and LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA. Lee is premiering his own war movie, MIRACLE AT ST. ANNA, about the all-black 92nd Buffalo Division in World War II.

IRONSKY---comedy sci fi movie underway about 1945 Nazis who use a secretAntarctic base to launch themselves to the dark side of the Moon wherethey establish a lunar base. In 2018, they decide to return to Earth.

SCARLETTJOHANNSON---ROLLING STONE's review of her new album of Tom Waits songs,ANYWHERE I LAY MY HEAD, said, "Johansson's voice is unremarkable andher pitch sometimes unsteady; she's a faintly goth Marilyn Manson lostin a sonic fog."

    G'day Dragon,
I have to ask ? have you heard Scarlett's attempt to sing ? I caught it last week on a breakfast  T.V show...mmmm....Then there was the report last week about her wanting to take her makeup artist to Cannes film festival at a cost of 8 thousand dollars a day ,It was refused so she refused to go ,  apparently and sadly she wasn't missed......  .....I wonder if someone close should have a word in her ear.

    G'day dragon ,
Thanks for the update!  you must have read my mind  ,I was checking out prices on line for Dirty Harry DVD's just yeasterday, also Mel Gibson's Lethal weapon dvd's .Interesting individually all the movies are around $15.00 each but the box set of 4(DVD's) for Lethal Weapon Legacy is only $37.00.So it will be interesting to see how much the Dirty Harry box set will be.

I don't know whether your a fan of Jobin music but I am and I know Joe is, because on the same day , 3rd of June there's the release of a new Remastered Antonio Carlos Jobin  CD
"Ellie and Tom" which has sparked my interest .Have you or Joe heard it before ,I havn't, the song listing is impressive . http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7680289&style=music&meid=10742&x=5045770016994

There is an old version of A.C.J's Ellie and Tom remastered in the early1990's, I wonder which would be the better remastered version not having confidence in 2008 remastered CD's due to the loud MP3 influence factor with alot of engineers.

     Cheers Mav'

    MAVERICK:

In case you missed it, today is Clint Eastwood's 78th birthday.

Also, I've got Jobim's FINEST HOUR remastered cd and his cd with Sinatra, too.
