    spinlib1,

The STR-DA90ESG's user manual shows that the US and Canadian version had a standard looking remote (RM-H501) and the Austrailian version had the 'egg' shaped remote (RM-VR101). Out of curiosity, which remote do you actually have?

To tell you the truth, I have found that for my remote control abilities SONY remotes have always been the must complicated and difficult remotes to use which is why I switched to my Harmony 890 and so far its been ggreat. For example on my 7100es I have not learned how to toggle between certain things and it is a litlle anoying on how we have to select the commands on the remote all the time prior to opperating, with my Harmony that problem is a thing of the past.

    spinlib1,

I understand and my question had nothing to do with the eBay listing. I was just wondering if you still owned the original remote, as they are hard to come by.

Everytime I read a negative review of a piece of Sony equipment it always involves the remote being too complicated and hard to use.

I have heard the same thing many times, that Sony remotes are difficult to use. Although, I have not found any of the Sony remotes that I have ever owned difficult to use.

Sony remotes aren't difficult to operate for Sony Fanatics, but for the average person will claim that they are way too complicated, the buttons are too small and located way too close together.

And yet a true Sony Fanatic can operate the same remote in the dark with one hand from memory!

One of the most important synergies in an Audio system is between the Amplification and the speakers and the DA7100ES seems perfectly suited for your speakers because with all 7 channels driven it can put an additonal 25 wpc @ 20 hz into a 4 ohm load than the DA9000ES can into an 8 ohm load! Gotta love that!

The DA7100ES is even more impressive driving an 8 ohm load where it can deliver an additional 60 wpc @ 20 hz more than the DA9000ES can. Go Bass Beast!

spinlib1- Definitive Technology makes fantastic speakers and it looks like the DA7100ES would do a very good job of driving them.

What's it like living with the DA7100ES/Def Tech combination?

Let me tell you guys. I have heard a lot of Home Theater set ups in my life so far any where from the Home theters in a box, to seperates you name it I probably have heard it from $200.00 to $20,000 (not including video) and by far I have never been so happy with my system. It is truly amazing. I have probably seen Underworld Evolution on blu ray 10 times now and every single time I hear something new. I have never heard a sub sound so deep and tight or speakers so warm and crisp at the same timewhich leads me to believe that SONY has there audio processing down.

spinlib1- When I heard the BDP-S1 playing Blu Ray Discs running the DA7100ES I got the exact same impression that it was the best Home Theater sound I had ever heard and was much better than the $6,000 Lexicon Multichannel processor that I'd heard in the past.
