Does anyone else have this model of LCD TV ??
I'm a newbie to LCD TV's and I must admit I'm rather dissapointed with the quality of the picture I'm getting from it.
Can anyone post some settings that look good on theirs??
Thanks, Robert

Welcome to Agoraquest! To a great extent, picture quality is dependent on the video source. What are your video sources! As far as settings go, you should at a minimum set the brightness and contrast levels using a calibration DVD, such ast the Digital Video Essentials (DVE) or test patterns provided by networks (usually early in the morning). If INHD is one of the channels available, look for the program "Video Tuneup". ----------------- -John

John, Thanks for the reply !!
As you can tell I've always had a CRT TV up until now so I'm on a steep learning curve here
I am currently using the TV with a Digital Terrestrial Receiver / PVR (Freeview / TUTV in the UK) and DVD Player both connected via SCART.
Where can I get a "Calibration DVD" ??
I am sure with some tweaking I can get a quality picture from it but no matter what conitation I use, something ends up looking poor

hello there.
as jehill rightly states, oftentimes it is the source material that will be the restrictor as to how good your viewing experience is.
Depending on the size of TV you had been used to before, 32" can be a jump for some. I will be upgrading from a 21" 4:3 regular CRT television to a 32" LCD, and things such as Freeview is going to look blockier, I know that for certain. There is a difference in quality of Freeview set-top boxes, and some can output an RGB signal which can prove to further boost image quality. Bear in mind however, that Freeview is standard definition (576 lines in the UK) currently.
As for DVDs, again the DVD itself, as well as the DVD player, and also the connection type you use will all have a bearing on things. Provided the film is a good transfer then Higher-quality DVD players are proven to display better and crisper images on screen. Again make sure you are using a preferred connection. Composite/SCART Composite is the lowest quality. S-Video is next. RGB/RGB SCART is next. then component. HDMI is top. These to make a difference. If you're using SCART, make sure it is a full RGB SCART cable (some are pin-restricted), make sure it is plugged into an RGB SCART on the TV (not all sockets accept RGB signals), and make sure your DVD player is set to output RGB.
On top of this, some DVD players will "upscale", which can attempt to add extra detail to your viewing experience.
Best of luck.

Thanks for the replys guys !!
I purchased a copy of DVE from Amazon and the only thing I can say at the moment is WOW!!!!!!
Made the recommended adjustments using the viewing card etc and the picture quality is awsome !!
I had always assumed that the manufacturers sent the TV sets out with the best possible picture but how wrong was I
Anyone looking to make the proper adjustments to their Bravia LCD TV should buy a copy of DVE it really is the business
Jehill, Thanks for the tip regarding DVE, it worked a treat and I'm very happy now with the picture.
Chappers, I haven't noticed any "blocky" images on the panel (Yet!!)
Thanks for all your help guys !!
