First off, is Sony planning on making a cradle/dock for the T30? I cant believe they dont have one for it, they are very nice!

Anyway, my dilema is which should I get? The T30 or the T9?

I tired to compare them and couldnt see any real glaring differneces except the 7 vs 6 mexapixels?

What would you recommend I get? It is $100 cheaper..

    Thanks so much!

    KANJIBANKERS,

I think that both cameras are cool. I have a DSC-T1, which I won't be replacing for quite a while.

There are a few minor more differences between the two cameras. The T30 has: a 0.5" larger screen, 2 more picture effect moes, 2 more auto exposure modes, and a larger megapixel CCD. The DSC-T9 has the CSS-TNA docking station available. I have seen a couple of reviews that mentioned a dock for the DSC-T30, but I couldn't find one. You might check with Sony customer service. Both these cameras are close, I would just go with whichever you like the looks of.

Have you seen the DSC-T30 in black?

    Thanks that helps!

So sounds like for $100 cheaper, the T9 would be the way to go?

I did see the black one but it is a shiny "piano black" and leaves tons of fingerprints..  You would have to wipe it down after each use..

If you can find that article, pleaaaaaase let me know!   That would be a huge help!

    Thanks so much!

    KANJIBANKERS,

    1. That would be up to you. I would consider how important a docking station is to you. I would also demo each model at a store like Best Buy, to see how you prefer the operation of each. I have seen both models, I just haven't compared side-by-side. So, without comparing each side by side, I would probably go for the T9 as the cameras are really close and I really love having a docking station, but that's just me. I was glad that my T1 came with it's docking station included.

    2. That seems like it would get annoying, having to constantly wipe the camera off. But, I have a black RAZR cell phone, it needs to be constantly wiped off to keep it clean, especially the screen. I got used to it. Still, the silver model would probably be a better way to go.

    3. I wouldn't trust either of those articles too much, as they didn't mention a docking station model number or show a picture of a docking station. So being curious, I called the Sony Parts and Accessories Center. They said that there isn't a docking station for the DSC-T30.

I appreciate all the help and you calling, that was really nice of you!

I think the T9 is the way to go.  Very similar..  $100 cheaper and I HAVE to have the docking station.  I agree with you, i love having a cradle / docking station.  Much nicer.

    Thanks again!

    kanjibankers,
    Some other very important differences:

The T30 has a new, hybrid LCD screen which is not only 3" vs 2.5", but it is also optimized for shooting outdoors in bright sunlight (will still be bright with little to no glare) and shooting in dimly lit situations (the LCD will still be bright and easy to frame shots) These are VERY important upgrades over the old LCD on the T9 because neither camera features a viewfinder - you have to use the LCD! Also, the ISO rating on the T30 is 1000 ISO versus 640 ISO on the T9. This means that the T30 has almost twice the light sensitivity of the T9, so you can get bright, clear pictures in dim lighting with no flash. Also a higher ISO is great for shooting blur-free sports and action shots. As mentioned before, it is also 7MP vs 6MP. Ultimately, it's your money but I thought you should know for sure all of the differences before you buy. Both cameras are very nice, and I am sure you will be happy with either!
    Regards,
    Ed

I don't know if it's a big factor for you, but the T30 takes a different battery that lasts much longer between charges. That's probably why it's slightly thicker in size. The battery is a little thicker, but still uses the same charger.
