This might sound like a newbie question.
I've just bought the sony DDW-830 home theater package and it came with the remote commander RM-U305 which they said it was universal multibranded. How can I configure it to control other equipment ? My VCR is panasonic and DVD player is LG.
thanks

Hello deathknight, and welcome!
I understand your dilemma. The documentarion is not very good from what I understand. In fact I do not believe that the Unicommander is a universal remote at all. I believe that it only controls Sony products!
I am not sure of this since I do not have that system or remote, but I believe what I said is true.
If you find anything else or if any one gets more info, go ahead and post it.

thanks kranston for the warm welcome.
after digging more on many sites, I found out that the unicommander only controls sony products. There are 2 models of remotes shipped with the STR-DE575 receiver (which is bundled with the DDW-830 package) depending on the location. One of them is a programmable multibranded remote and the other is the unicommander. That's what created the confusion in the first place. Documentation is really rare on remotes. I have a sony TV and I still can't figure out how to control it using the unicommander coz it simply doesnt work with out of the box settings.

i got the same remote with a 27" sony tv, sony vcr, sony receiver, and a ps2, the remote worked perfectly with all four units. The ps2 dvd functions surprised me. i think it works because of the updated driver on the disc with the sony ps2 remote and the infrared reciever, I do have problems from time to time where the remote just wont function on the tv or ps2, but give it some time and it works like normal, having that problem right now. but im using the vcr to control channel functions.as far as using it withj the tv or vcr i didnt really do anything. it worked right out of the box.
