Hello Sony Heads, Got a KV32HS510 hooked up via component video to a DVP-NC685V deck. Which DRC setting do you all prefer? I can't say that I see much difference between "Interlaced" and "CineMotion". The latest installment of the Star Wars saga, which is supposedly culled from digital, not film stock, looked great but I can not say I noticed a difference in the appearance whilst toggling from "Interlaced" to CineMotion" settings.

A secondary question--- what real world value are these "CRT calibration" programs? Apparently, the factory settings are not quite optimal for videophiles. Are the settings they advocate adjusting accessible using on screen dialog menus?

    Thanks Much, Aiden

CineMotion performs 2:3 pulldown correction. This can make some motion look a bit smoother. Without it, some TV frames end up with two different film frames. Cinemotion figures out how to separate them so you get smoother movement. If you use Cinemotion on material that was not converted from film, you occasionally see brief streaks on sudden movements.

The effect is usually quite subtle. The best test is to find a scene with some long, medium/fast panning. CineMotion will probably be a bit less jittery than the Interlaced/Progressive setting.
