Since the crossover is not adjustable on the 897, does anyone know what it is when the speakers are set to small.  My folks are going to connect a Polk audio RM7200 sat system up to this.  The front speakers can't handle much below 100 Hz.  Polk recommends connecting the sub through the speaker connections and using the adjustable crossover on the sub to get the perfect mix.  If it's in that 100Hz range, I'm OK to use the LFE sub connection. If it's in the 80 Hz range that would be too low, and I'd loose those frequencies.  Sure wish it was adjustable.

Just got an email back from Sony support, and the said they don't have that information.  That's nuts!  If they don't who does?  Very aggrevating, since it is something a person needs to know.

Getting answers out of Sony Customerserv is almost impossible. I have first hand experience with the frustration you are feeling.

The figure that I have seen quoted most often for the frequency cutoff for the small speaker setting is 120 hz, so it looks like you are in the clear.

I would assume that it is 120 Hz as Maxx says, because when there is an adjustment, the default is 120 Hz.
