will a hdtv signal travel through s-video or only component or both???

Good to see you back here posting. For high def you will need to use component, DVI or HDMI cables. S-Video cables won't work.

Yes, I do. I use the Sony HD300 with my Sony KP-53HS30 RPTV and subscribe to DirecTV.
