Hi, I just bought a Progressive scan DVD player and am having trouble getting it to work with my Sony WEGA KV-32FS100 TV. Is my Sony TV capable of supporting a progressive scan DVD player, or should I return the PS DVD player and get a non-PS DVD player? Sorry if this has been covered on the forum before - I'm new here. Thanks for any replies. Clay

Unfortunately, your model monitor does not support progressive scan signal. However, you can still use the DVD player provided it's set to it's interlace mode setting.

ccooper- Welcome to Agoraquest. Unfortunately your TV can't display a progressive signal. Just set the DVD player to output in interlaced mode and you'll be just fine, you can still use the component inputs. There will either be a switch on the rear of the DVD player or there will be an option in the setup options of the DVD player. BTW- What model DVD player do you have?

ccooper- That's cool, I'm not rolling in dough either, lol.... Did what NiteHawk and I suggested work? Was the setting a slide switch on the back of the DVD player or was it in the menu settings?

So far I've only examined the DVD player and I found no switches on it to change it to interlaced output. I'll have to pursue this later since my daughter is busy watching some TV shows on it right now. Thanks.

ccooper- I checked out the manual for Cyberhome DVD player, I didn't see any setting to allow change to an interlaced or progressive output. Were you getting a distorted picture or no picture using the component output? I read that you'll have to connect the composite connection to enter the setup menu; on the VIDEO SETUP PAGE you have to set the VIDEO OUTPUT to YCbCr (choices appear to be component or s-video), this should activate the component connection. Let us know if this helps.

OMG!!! I cant believe someone else has this dvd player!!
I went through 2 of them in a couple of months. the second one died this evening!
It seems the buttons stop responding after a while so if the power is on it just stays that way and you cant do anything with it,Not even turn it off!
My next purchase will be a Sony.

dontsleep- If you are in the $100 - $130 range, check out the DVP-NS725P, price varies depending on where you purchase. IMO this is a great player for the money. ----------------- KDL-52XBR6 w/Salamander Archetype TV65,STR-DA7100ES,BDP-S1,DVP-NS9100ES,DIRECTV HR21,Panamax 5510-PRO ACRegenerator & M1500-UPS;Klipsch:KSF-10.5(2),KSF-C5,KSF-S5(4-2),KSW-15; glass toslinks,Pure Silver i-Link & HDMI,PS3,Harmony 880 Pro

dontsleep- Before you do that, may I suggest that you go to crutchfield.com and check out those DVD players. You can do a side-by-side comparison, there are some features that the DVP-NS725P has that the DVP-NS575P doesn't like a digital optical output. ----------------- KDL-52XBR6 w/Salamander Archetype TV65,STR-DA7100ES,BDP-S1,DVP-NS9100ES,DIRECTV HR21,Panamax 5510-PRO ACRegenerator & M1500-UPS;Klipsch:KSF-10.5(2),KSF-C5,KSF-S5(4-2),KSW-15; glass toslinks,Pure Silver i-Link & HDMI,PS3,Harmony 880 Pro

CCooper, I found in the manual you have to have the component cables connected in order to enter the progressive scan menu anyway so it should work fine with interlaced mode being default.

I was fooling around with the connections last night and trying a couple of ways to possibly hook it up and lo and behold, I got it working! I don't know what I did, but it's working fine and that's all I care about right now. Thanks for everyone who tried to help me. I really appreciate it very much. My daughter is very happy that she can now watch her DVDs on the larger TV in the living room.
