    Hello,

this is my first post, as this set is the first good display I have ever own.
I have Avia and have always been calibrating my sets.

I have read a lot about the service menu and correcting redpush for this set. There are different thread I have read, but unfortunatly despite searching and trying to put everything together, I do not feel comfortable in going into service menu...

Could someone provide a "step by step" way to attenuate this red push, a little in the way it was done on one of those pages for another model :
    http://www.keohi.com/keohihdtv/brandspecific/sony/redpush.html

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

    Thomas From Montreal.

This is what I did to my xbr910 after researching a bit about red push.

Again do this at your own risk.

Here is how you will get into and navigate your service menu (be sure your remote is set to 'TV' and not 'Sat/Cable' or you won't be able to enter service mode)

    Service Menu

    Enter Service Mode = [PowerOff] - [DISPLAY] - [5] - [VOL+] - [PowerOn]

    Menu Next = [1]
    Menu Previous = [4]
    Category Next = [2]
    Category Previous = [5]
    Adjust Up = [3]
    Adjust Down = [6]
    Save New Settings = [MUTING] - [ENTER]Restore Factory Defaults = [8] - [ENTER]
    Exit Service Mode = [PowerOff]

And here are the specific settings I changed (note you will have to do lots of scrolling to find the settings):

R-YR  15    Sets the amount of RED
R-YB  15    Sets the amount of RED
G-YR  11    Sets the amount of GREEN
G-YB   9    Sets the amount of GREEN  (8 or 10 may be closer)

Write down your factory settings in case you'd like to go back... for instance i think my R-YR was 9 at default raising it to 15 lowers the amount of red.

I got those values from a generic Sony XBR site and I changed just those because they seemed the most universal.

Here is a link to the older XBR site:

No problem I was a bit nervous doing it myself but I like my picture much better now, I'm able to turn the 'Color' setting up near the halfway mark and everything looks alot better without the reds so strong it is much more balanced.

I don't even have a DVE or AVIA disc yet to put any test patterns up there for calibration so when I use one of those I'm sure I'll fine tune it even more.

    Hi there,

so the two r-YR and R-YB are settings for the reds, do you know why there are two settings ?
Also, can you tell why the greens are having two different values (11 and 9), as well as (8 or 10 may be closer ?)

Do I presume well saying that the two settings for blue are B-YR and B-YB ?

What problems can occur while twikking this service menu (don't frighten me LOL).

    Regards,

Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in I forget what the two values represent there are 2 for red and green but there are none for blue.  Blue is figured out from the relation of red and green somehow again I only read about this once and I don't recall.

Every TV is different I got those figures from a generic XBR site so that is why there was the editorial not from the original poster saying maybe 8 or 10 is better than 9 on some XBRs.  I think it was written before the xbr910 was released.

As far as damage if you only change those settings nothing 'should' go wrong.  But there are plenty of things that can go wrong if u start changing things in the service menu in general.

Or you can hire an ISF tech and for $275 he will use equipment worth thousands that can tune the TV great.  I think I might splurge for an ISF tech eventually.  But for now I want to tinker
