I've been planning on making the move to computer audio for quite awhile for several easons but I not because I thought they would stop making CDs anytime soon. I'll actually be surprised if it happens this soon. Like the article says vinyl is still around and it wasn't that long ago we thought the CD would kill it. Didn't happen though.
If they actually stop making them in about a year it would be a crushing blow to many aspects of the audio industry. Think of all of the CDPs that will be nothing more than expensive paperweights. Also I think it'll take more than a year for computer audio to "truly" replace the CD for audiophiles. Computer audio is getting better all of the time and very rapidly but I think overall it still has a way to go to completly supass the CD. I also wonder what will happen to the price of computer audio if they stop making CDs that soon. Will it come down because of competition or will it go up because it'll be the only "digital" game in town?_mykl
