Sony launches 3 new LCD Television models in India

Sony India, a leading consumer electronics brand in the country today unveiled its much-awaited LCD TV range Bravia Series T.

The company aims to garner Rs 4,000 crore with the new products across the nation this fiscal, Company Managing Director Masaru Tamagawa told newspersons here at a press conference.

He said the new range, available in three models provides the winning combinations of high-quality images and clarity sound.

He said the launch, claimed to be the first in the world, coincides with the upcoming Kerala festive season Onam, in which the company tragets a sales of Rs 75 crore, a 50 per cent growth compared to last year.The three models –KLV-19T400A, KLV-19T400W and KLV-26T400A are priced at Rs 17,900, Rs 21,900 and Rs 29,900, respectively and is expected to scale up the company’s national LCD market share to 30 per cent this fiscal, Tamagawa said.

The new series feature a built-in FM radio, powerful speakers with 3D woofers, high-definition picture quality and highly customisable 5-band graphic equaliser.

Tamagawa said the new product range was a result of extensive market research and development, and expected to give the customers the ultimate pleasure in entertainment.

With India being the “fastest growing market” for LCD television in the world, Sony India on Thursday launched new range of LCD televisions, hoping the new series to contribute substantially to achieve a business turnover of rs 4000 crore this fiscal.

The company’s turnover last year was rs 3000 crore. Sony India was targetting sale of about three lakh new models this year all India and 10,000 units from Kerala during the Onam festival season alone, its Managing Director Masaru Tamagawa told a press meet here.

Sony was targetting a sales turnover of rs 75 crore during Onam’, against last year’s rs 50 crore and was expecting a 52 per cent growth, he said.

‘Our business is growing at 41 per cent (Apr-June 2008) compared to last year and there was no reason to be pessimistic about inflation and recession,’ he said when asked about the ambitious targets set against prevalent high inflation.

The products– BRAVIA series have been unveiled for the first time in the world, he said. The market for LCD television in India is growing very fast and India was the fastest growing market in the world, he said.

Asked why Kerala was selected for the launch, he said the market was promising for Sony. The original plan was to launch it during Diwali.This has been advanced and the company is test launching the new series in Kerala, he said.

The Series Tiger provides high quality images with powerful side speakers for a complete entertainment experiences. It is available in three models. It has powerful side speakers.

With FM wave hitting Kerala and rest of the country, Tamagawa said the company decided to introduce FM Radio as well.
