If you’ve purchased a 20GB PS3 and already have filled your hard drive to the limit, have no worries.
Sony has gone on the record saying that they welcome PlayStation 3 owners to upgrade their hard drives to sizes up to 250GB for internal HDDs and 500GB for external ones. In fact, the company recently touted how easy the process is on their official blog.
“No matter which model of the PLAYSTATION 3 you’ve got…music, video, and gaming download fiends will find a way to fill up their hard disk drive. Fortunately, the PS3 doesn’t require some hard-to-find proprietary HDD – you can swap it out yourself with the kind of drive found at most electronics retailers and on the internet,” boasts Jeff Rubenstein, Social Media Manager. And for those who think it may be tricky. Rubenstein goes as far as to link to a CNET tutorial that explains step-by-step how to complete the process.
Sony is really showing that they’re trying to going the extra mile these days, and we commend them for the effort.
