I received my KP-51WS510 yesterday.  I already own a 32HS510 which has a setting ( by picture mode ) for SVM ( scan velocity modulation ) settings.  The 51" set does not, it would appear that on Pro mode SVM is turned off, on Movie its on the highest setting and Standard and Vivid are at low or medium.  I quickly turned off SVM on every picture mode on my 32", is there some way to get it turned off on the 51"?  I really don't care for SVM at all.

Hazard- I believe I read somewhere that is a setting in the service menu. Someone else will have to comment on accessing the service menu.

i have the kp-51ws510, here's the service menu setting:

For optimum picture performance you should always turn SVM off.

Category: 2150P-3

Item: UVML -> 0 (disable Scan Velocity Modulation)

forgot to mention how to enter the service menu for this set.

Press "display", then "5", then volume up, then power on. (1 sec. between each)

also forgot to mention, after changing the setting, press "muting" (you will see "write" in green) and then "enter" which will turn "write" into red.

Thank you for the information.

Thank you for the information.  What value should I change UVML to?  Mine is already at 0, but SVM is on in vivid, movie, and standard modes.

I see it now, the UVML setting is independant for each picture mode I switch to.  Thank you very much for the information, my picture looks alot better without that silly SVM on.

Also note, for anyone else interested, that this needs to be adjusted independantly for each video input.

Sorry, I have one more,

Sorry, I have one more, just if anyone is interested or trying to do this:

It appears that SVM has been set in the service mode differently for modes 1 through 4 and modes 5 through 7:

1-4 operate from one main setting:

Vivid - 3 / Standard - 2 / Movie - 1 / Pro - 0

* - I'm not sure if Video 1 - 4 have different settings for 480i/480p/1080i because I dont use any of these inputs.  I run DVD through component video cable on Video 5 and my HD Cable box through component video cable on Video 6.

5-7 operate from one main setting ( but these need to be adjusted differently for 480i, 480p and 1080i ).  If you adjust Vivid to 0 on Video 5 for 480i it will change it for 480i on all three inputs.

480i:

Vivid - 2 / Standard - 2 / Movie - 2 / Pro - 0

480p:

Vivid - 2 / Standard - 2 / Movie - 2 / Pro - 0

1080i:

Vivid - 3 / Standard - 2 / Movie - 2 / Pro - 0

So basically if you want SVM off you need to adjust it for all three resolution modes and then write, which I did because I can't stand SVM ( makes alot of jaggies where they shouldn't be ).

Sorry for all the posts, I did some experimenting and notation before making any adjustments.  Just giving a heads up if anyone else needs to make these adjustments so you won't wonder why you wrote something and it's still on in another mode.
