I have the XA7ES (without the "D"), and I must agree that it is a wonderful sounding player. Mine does not have the wood trim, so I guess that is why my model number is missing a "D".

They are totally different players. The XA7ES came after the wood sides era, about 7 years after the ESD came out. Great player though - I have one!  More than one person thinks the XA7ES is the best red book only player Sony ever made.

Have to admit, i feel like pinching my self tonight as i've been lucky enough to land another X7ESD Beast!!!
I thought my other X7ESD was minty, but i believe this one has got it beat! Can't find a mark or any signs of use anywhere!!! Low hours unit, original remote, box & manual. Very well cared for by original owner!!

I hope i'm set for life!...or until the lasers tell me otherwise
